When i try to adjust my carb with the idle mixture screws i dont see much change in idle or vac. readings The carbs are a 6 pac set up do you guys think I should drill the throttle plates? The car seems to run fine and idle about 1100 just doesn't respond to the mixture screws. What should I do ? THANKS for any help EDDIE B

If the mixture screws don't affect the engines idle performance then you are usually into the transfer slots with the blades. But, this should also cause a rich condition. If your engine is idling satisfactorily why screw with it? If you are into the transfer slots then yes drilling the blades should alleviate that situation. Warning. Be prepared to have to do some tuning to get it all correct. -Bob

Is the gauge hooked up to the metering plate or the main body?

NO , you don't need to drill the throttle plates on street driven cars.

NO - drill - plate!

You have a few open and keep asking the same question... it's a waste of time and best of luck to you if you don't want to keep it in one thread.

And the title of this thread is what exactly????

If you don't have any other threads or asked a similar question elsewhere, I apologize. Seems I've seen you ask this in another thread.

You likely have an issue in another system on the car, not in the fuel system. You're trying to band-aid it with the carb. IMO, your combo should idle in the 800-900 range with 10-11" vacuum.

And the "Dan" crack has to do with something else.

Drill as a last resort and you are not there yet.
I was on the border of drilling plates and I was able to tune it out. Much happier now and no drilling.
