I HAVE A 64-65 C BODY A-833 BEHIND A 440 IN MY 1969 DODGE CHARGER. IT WAS IN THERE WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR, SO I KEPT IT. IT IS REBUILT, AND WAS FINE, ONLY NEEDING A LITTLE ADJUSTMENT(LINKAGE), UNTIL LAST NIGHT. IT GOT JAMMED IN 2ND AND WON'T COME OUT, DROVE HOME 10 MILES IN SECOND. TRANNY SOUNDS FINE, NO NOISES DRIVING HOME, OR I WOULD HAVE SHUT IT DOWN! I HAVE IT JACKED UP AND THE LINKAGE DISCONNECTED , BUT IT STILL WON'T COME OUT. WHAT DO I DO, THERE ARE NO GOOD TRANNY SHOS AROUND HERE THAT MESS WITH MANUALS. PLEASE HELP, THANKS IN ADVANCE

an experienced friend of mine just rebuilt it before i put it in. i am not saying that is not the problem, but could it be anything else. i just got the car finished, and put almost 200 miles on it in the last 3 weeks, with no problems other than it being a little difficult getting into 3rd(believed to be a linkage issue). could it be a shifter issue? the shifter was not rebuilt. since my first post the tranny is out of 2nd with some help, and i took it down the road, 1-2 shift fine, can't get 2-3-4. put it back in the garage and adjusted 3-4 rod and now sometimes i can get 2-3, 3-4, sometimes not, and it doesn't matter weather the car is running or not, it is the same. also the clutch seems to slip off the start. being that you are close to me is there anyone you would recommend to look at it. thanks Mike

check your shifter, might be jamed between gears, had that happen before, and might have broke a shifter fork.

everything is tight, the only thing i have found loose is the bushing is gone in the reverse rod, so it slops around , i am going to order the replacements. wouldn't a broken fork be awfully noisy? i really am thinking the shifter is the culpret, maybe just dry and not moving freely?! any comments, what do you think. i guess i am just hoping that i don't have to remove the tranny at the beginning of summer, that would suck . thanks Mike
