Anyone know where the power trunk release button is suppose to be and what it looks like on a 72 Road Runner. Thanks

In general,if it has a power trunk release it would be in the glove box...Some early year vehicles{69-70} had a vacuum operated unit then in 71-up they were electric...You can't miss the early electric units...It's huge almost like a 3 speed wiper motor...

In the glove box. on the top, left of center. In 72 the PDCY cars used the vacuum style still, but the RW cars were electric. I cannot find a latch right now, but it had the solenoid attached. (pretty sure it is the same stuff as Cordoba Magnum)

I had a 71 Polara that had the vacuum trunk release, so who knows when it changed to electric.

I heard alot of Canadian spec ,R code windsor built cars are coded for inside trunk release ,
but never installed . They are just coded for it.
I don't know , but I have heard that rumor for years.

Had a '73 Charger that had the electric trunk release (red button, I think) on the steering column. only reason I found it was i was working up under the dash and saw it, started pushing it and finialy figured out the noise was comming from the trunk. Think a buddys dads '73 Chrysler Newport was on the steering column too.

There should be two wires which connect to the switch. One is hot power to the switch, and the other sends hot power to the trunk release when the button is depressed.

That does look like a factory switch in the console to me, just without the bezel as shown above.

I agree, it should be white on the back with 2 blades. That retainer looks stock, and your glove liner has no hole...interesting. What is the part # (s) on the latch?

this is coming pretty much interesting!!! when I made same question to add for my 74 no one got me the RIGHT answer so I ended making this:

http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=7603.0;id=12677;image

somebody told me was in that way though!

will be great to see an original setup... Is the latch system showed on this thread the original one ? My 74 Mopar parts catalog shows a GIANT unit ( as stated by screamindriver ). Of course I know the unit I got is from a later car, but shows pretty much similar with the one showed here.

Please keep the good info coming
