Greeting Moparters -

on a 1970 manual steering B-Body -- are there fluid/gear oil levels to check for a manual steering box?

I used to think there was no fluid associated w/ manual steering, but recently heard someone mention that they do in fact have fluid and should be maintained??

Is this so? And if so, where do I check the level and what type of fluid should I be using? (1970 B-Body).

Much thanks for any tips.

The Service manual states to use SAE 90 Gear Oil in the manual Steering box, and it just says, "Lubricant should cover worm gear".

Hope that helps

It also mentions NOT to use a pressure gun, as the high pressure may damage the seals. Just get a little funnel, and pour it directly into the filler plug hole.
