I run a K&N filter in an 10" eddie air cleaner

had it about 10 yrs now,2nd chrome air cleaner though

I have cleand the filter 1x so far,it was running ruff in the am on warm ups and very caked up on the outside 5 yrs ago

I picked up a paper eliment while the K&N was air drying for 8-10 $

I had to buy a paper filter about every 2 months then spent the 40$ and got the K&N

I have bought 1 paper eliment since then, and will pick up another one soon so I can clean the K&N for the 2x

saved a lot of $ if you ask me 8-10 $ every 2 months for 10 yrs...you do the math

I have one on the K&N V-stack on the 440 in the sig pic,got it slightly used and is new so it will be a while on cleaning it I am sure

I have oiled the sb one a couple times when it goes dry and grey on the inside..just a little oil around the top edge and it soaks and wicks down on the inside...needs very little oil unless its cleaned

it drys out from heat and dusty conditions,it came with a 1,000,000 mile warranty so I waited 5 yrs to clean it,its due again

I will go look and see if it has a part # on it,and i will check the v-stack...should be the same one as they are both 10" round.i post back later

IIRC I got the sb one for a 225 /6 dart and it is just a tad smaller than the base and lid of the eddie chrome air cleaner

I get better mileage & performance through the paper element of the same size and no mess with washing and oiling. Went through enough of that BS with the old oil bath air cleaners.

Clean it, if it's Dirty. Oil it, if it Squeaks. But: Don't fix it, if it Works!

ok have some part #s

sb K&N is A096A6 in the eddie air cleaner

lid is 9 5/8" and the filter I got is 9 1/8"

a tad small for it but works, you can see how much smaller in the pic

I think the next one will fit better maybe

For everyday driving I put any oiled air filters in the same class as Fram oil filters.

spectre Is cheap crap that almost never fits right and ends up looking like hell.

You gone a long way to get the SS look for that car and it's looking a lot better than the last time I saw it in person. My would be go after something that would give you that same vintage look like it belongs there.

What did they use back in the day? Did they even use one

If you run in dusty conditions, I would stay with the paper. They look cool and keep rocks from getting in the engine.

what alt bracket is that on your engine?

looks good anyways

a stub stack with one of the wifes nylons streched over it is better than no air cleaner

OK, an old pair of his Fruit of the Looms will work, too. If you position the fly on top, it will open under full throttle conditions.

I used to run K&N on everything. I can now say that you're not gaining much with K&N, in fact you're giving up quality filtration. Ever hold a K&N up to the light? See all the small pin holds that dirt can pass through? Now notice all the fine dust on the filtered side of your filter housing; not good.

Still don't believe me? Take a look at the Arlen Spicer ISO 5011 Air Filter Comparison - link

So you'll be better off with a good paper filter. By the way, Champion Laboratories, Inc. makes the air and oil filters for AC Delco. They also make the same filters under the STP brand you can buy for less at Auto Zone.

Or another option if you want an even better filtering/flowing air filter over paper, take a look at Dry cell synthetic nanofiber EaAR Racing Air Filters

Hint: Nanofiber synthetic air filter media is what the U.S. Military selected for the M1 Abrams Tank program.

hey man cool car, kind of old school. anyway the K&N thing is a myth. They flow no better than a good paper filter. The key is to get the RIGHT size element. I'd say the 10" is too small unless you get a tall element. Summit sells a nice 13" unit for like $30. Plus the cleaning/oiling is a hassel.

I like K&N filters way better than paper filters. Cleaning is no hassle for people who aren't lazy. They make the pre-filter wrap for dusty conditions.

They do make a 10" filter or really close to it. I used it on my old Duster for awhile. You can search K&N filters by size on their website.

I'd suggest dumping the 10" setup and go with the K&N 11" Extreme Top filter setup if you have the room under the hood for more airflow.

1970 FE5 Duster 360/904/3.91's SOLD 1973 TB3 SpaceDuster 340/4spd/4.10's SOLD Moparless for now but when the opportunity is right I'll have another one.

I run a K&N filter with the K&N top. It worked on My 67 dodge(440 motor) and is now on My 67 plymouth. My only concern on size was the fit of the baseplate on the carb. It fits and is the best air filter, in my opinion, to date
