Ive got a 360 72 dodge demon and was curious to find out what you other guys are running for electric fans...so what size, cfm rating, thickness and is it a pusher or puller fan?? Thanks!

okay so I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on a Proform 10" reversible fan that puts out 1000 cfm. Would this be enough to cool a small block street 360 (stock)? I think the 1000cfm would be enough but is the fan itself to small? Should I go owith a 12"?

I use an electric fan and water pump on the Dart drag car. It does ok but I think it would slowly overheat in traffic if it were a street car.

It's a shroud for an electric fan that I think would help alot by allowing the fan to pull air through the entire radiator instead of just the size of the fan.

31"x19" rad with twin 12" fans pulling 2500cfm

1000 CFM isn't going to cut it. You need more like 3-4000 CFM - no, really - to keep a healthy engine cool on the street. Yeah, that can cost a lot if you go aftermarket, but there are LOTS of junkyard options. The OEM's aren't going to cheap out on a cooling fan, and you can benefit from their hard work. There are lots of threads on electric fans, so you might try searching for something like "Lincoln fan" or "Mark VIII" for some good ideas. I know OzHemi had a very detailed thread on how he installed a Mark VIII fan in one of his cars. Late 90's t-birds also used a similar fan, and Taurus/Sable fans are also nice pieces.

That fan is EASILY 3000 CFM, maybe more. It draws some amps though, so be prepared to upgrade some wiring - especially through the bulkhead connector - when you do an electric fan install.

The one I used was a Tbird one actually..from a '96 4.6L car. It fits the 27" Summit radiator Perfectly as well
It's a 2 speed fan, and I had it wired so as the low speed came on with a sensor (in the intake, to come on at 180) and the high-speed on the fan on a switch.."just in case" but even in the middle of the summer I could let the car idle for 45 minutes and it would not get over 190 degrees

Here it is as I was mocking up the mounts and wiring..

I found a nice taurus/sable electric fan/shroud for $25.00 at the junky.... It tested and worked great. I measured it for mounting behind my 27" summit rad and the fan was 1/2 to deep. It hit the water pump snout on my J-body TBF

U velly clever grasshoppa..... I just might bust out the recip saw and do some trimming!!!! Is that a sable fan you are using??? The one I have really kicks butt, but I bet it pulls some amps.... I see the bosch relays and wonder how you wired yours up?? Do you have another thread about your fan install??? If so please post a link as I will get busy tomorrow morning.

I also like your mounting solution for the fan, very nice.

It's a Tbird 4.6l fan actually

On the relays..read what I wrote a little further up about the 2 speeds on the fan..I used one relay for each speed on the fan

BTW...you'll notice the blade off in most of the pics
It is amazing how sharp those plastic blades can be on them things, so all the mock up work was done sans-blade.

To the 27" summit radiator dudes, how did you handle the mounting? I like the 4.6 ford fan deal. Looks like a nice package! Can you give the part# for that rad?

It seems all or most of you are running an aftermarket 27" radiator, while I've got a stock (22"?) radiator and I dont think any of those fans would come close to fitting

The aftermarket radiator is 27" from outside tank edge to outside tank edge. Yor factory 22" is the core width, they might be close to the same core size. I think mine was 22x18 core size IIRC this is the summit (northern Rad).
