Ignition switch itself, or the connector on the switch

Firewall connector

Firewall mounted relay

If it's an automatic, could be the neutral safety switch either bad, out of adjustment, or something changed in the shifter adjustment.

Any connectors or wireing in between

I'll go get the crowbar so I can pry out of you what you've tried to do, what kind of test gear you have, and whether this thing is an automatic or a stick

You are saying that it is an auto, you bypass the neutral safety and it does what? cranks? no crank?

Sounds like no crank with the neutral safety bypassed?

This is sounding like the relay itself.

Disconnect the NS switch lead and ground that terminal of the relay. If the car cranks with the key, you have a NS issue

With a test light or meter, probe the key connection (the "other" push on terminal on the relay) and that lead should have power with the ign switch in the "start" position.

If you have that power, and the NS terminal to ground, and no crank, then it's a bad relay

On the relay, the large nut terminal is "battery" hot at all times.

The smaller bare screw connection feeds the starter solenoid down below in "crank"

the two push on terminals go to the relay coil, so one is grounded through the NS, and the other gets power from the ign switch in crank

Now I AM confused.

You say "I only have one wire and it is yellow"

Do you mean there is two push-on terminals, and the only wire you have is yellow?

One push on should go to yellow--the ign switch crank circuit

One push on should be brown--goes down to the NS

Other than "restore correctness" it does not matter which push-on the yellow and brown hook to
