Anyone have a set of DynoMax UltraFlo Welded mufflers on their Mopars And How do you Like Them? I have 40 series FloMasters on my 69RR, can not stand the Drone sound you get from them

Tom, before you pop for the UltraFlo Welded, look into the new Dynomax VTs. You could run the 17956 and have a sweet sound, no drone, and plenty of noise at WOT. They really are pretty darn slick. We have three sets we are playing with right now. And, there is rebate on them too so for $75 you get state-of-the-art technology, great sound, no drone, and all stainless steel body and tubes. Tom

I plan on running Dynomax mufflers on my Road Runner. But I'm not sure I like the idea of a spring/back pressure operated butterfly valve in my muffler. I'm sure it works fine when new, but what happens if/when the valve corrodes shut due to condensation/soot? What happens if the spring/linkage breaks?
Just throwing it out there...

CS, very good questions. With them constructed from all st. st. parts, corrosion is not as big of worry to me. They are cheap enough right now that I could live with the worry of the spring eventually fatiguing. I think it is 302 or one of the spring alloys of st. st. so it likely is long lived as well.
Seriously though, we just put a set of 17956's on a 12 second 68 360 barracuda. I have two more with the weaker spring (17156) coming this week and we will do a comparison between them to see what affect the spring rate has on back pressure and sound level at various RPMs. It is weird that such a short muffler, with a 3" core with minimal packing, has such little resonation and roar.
I have had 340s since 1978 and they are very tough to keep from resonating from 1800 to 2300 RPM. This muffler seams to prevent that roar very nicely.
As soon as we get the whole system sealed and leak free, I will try to get some very good sound recordings to share along with the data we plan to collect. Should get measurements later this week.

Thanks for the legwork Tom!
I saw these in the last Summit catalog, looks like an interesting twist on sound control.

don't they have a lifetime warranty like other dynomax mufflers? if so, send 'em back and get a replacement for free...just went through this with my 17769 muffler that the case split on from corrosion.
I'd like to see a larger body VT series for even more stealthiness...if they made one in similar size to my 17769 I'd be tempted to replace mine...
