OK guys, I bought this 68 Charger and was wondering what to do with it. I have a bunch of parts that I could use to fix it up and get it driving again. Doors, hood, grill, motors, transmissions, 8 3/4 rear axles. She was born with a 383HP and 727 Auto (now MIA), Buckets and console, GG1 Dark Green with S6F Dark Green interior (also MIA). The bad parts , Floors are rusty and partially cut out, trunk floor and lower quarters are rusty, dutchman and sail panels around rear window are rusty, 90% of interior is gone, car does not roll. The good parts , I got a title, the dash is in the car with the VIN, floor shift column, also front and rear frame rails, inner fenders, roof, trunk lid, and both fenders are rust free. So the question is should I fix it or should I cut it? Thumbs up, she lives to ride another day or thumbs down, she goes to the great salvage yard in the sky? OR

It would be a sweet car done. I have some dark prowler purple paint I was thinking about spraying on it. It also has rust holes in the rockers, the tail light panel, rear valance, valance corners, the inner and outer wheel houses are rusted next to the trunk floor , but the firewall and cowl are good, the rear seat floor pan, and the package tray area is good. What do you think? If you could part it quickly and make good money or if you had some of the parts and a lot of time & cash, maybe put it back on the road?

by all means fix it. I had a '69 road runner that was worse than that. took me a couple years to gwet all the parts, but I got it on the road. didn't cost a ton either. woulda had it painted till my garage burned last year. that Charger is well worht saving.

I'd say save it, I know the delima though, got a 71 Swinger no one wants, but cant bring myself to build it or get the chop saw out, probably end up doing the later when the time comes for my 69 GTS just waiting on full quarters.
Careful, your character's showing!

I appreciate everyones input on this car, and i'm beginning to agree with the consensus. I sometimes wonder if I have too many projects and if the decision to either pull this one into the stable or send it the glue factory is the best one . They do reproduce a lot of the parts to fix this car, and I can handle floor, trunk and body panel replacement, thankfully none of the framerails are rotted, that would almost be the breaking point. It is small parts that need to be gathered up like rally gauges, dash wiring, big block A/C lines and hoses, upper door pads, etc... that got me to hesitate and ask. If you guys were to restore it, should it be taken back to a stock Green on Green 383 Auto car, or cloned into an R/T, 500, Daytona, General Lee or something else? I am kind of partial to the dark prowler purple, but at this point the car could be any color. Thanks again for everyones thoughts.

I know of a number of people that would love a reasonably priced project. Unless you need the parts from it, build it or pass it along to someone that will.

Sell it to someone who has the means and knowhow to repair it if you do not. That is an easy project. I recently did a Challenger convertible and the only thing left of the original car is the windshield framen conv. top well area and the quarter glass area. I know several people who would be interested. All the sheet metal is now available so that takes crushing any Charger just plain stupid. Moparts member RTidd has is looking for a shell. Contact me if you want to sell.

I wouldn't cut it up, sell it to someone that will fix it- somebody will fix it! I'm doing a 68 Dart 170 2dr sedan right now that needed full floors, trunk, extensions, lower 1/4's, the gutter around the trunk and a little work around the rear window, all the bolt on sheetmetal was junk also. Why? because I like 2dr sedan Darts , I've aways wanted one and never came across any for sale, then had 2 fall in my lap, the 68 and a 67 parts car. after selling off spare parts and some other horse trading I should have a decent looking '68 Dart with a mild small block and discs for around $1,500.

Save it as they don't make them any more. Once it is gone... it's gone. Forever.

If you do fix it, remember it's so far gone you can do whatever you want to it. You're not ruining anything if you make it into a race car, or a modern street driver with a tube K frame, efi, 4 wheel discs, etc. Do whatever you want to it. But if you don't want to fix it up, sell it to someone else who will. I bet you'd be able to sell the thing whole for the same amount of money you'd get from parting it, especially if stuff is missing from it already.
