We did a conversion on a 1972 duster from slant six to 318 and was wondering if all the shifter levers and brackets are the same for a six to a 318. They all bolted up just fine but when we went to put the head pipe on the drivers side it hit the bracket. If the the bracket was higher the head pipe would fit. If we modify it we can make it work but would rather have a set up thats not hacked up. Thanks for any help.

I did a similar swap with a '68 Valiant and do not recall any issues with the column shift linkage. I was running headers though. (727 too.)

What body style car are the 318 manifolds from?

were running 340 manifolds with tti 2 1/2" exhaust. Do they make a cable setup that could take the place of all the linkage?

I do not see a different part for the linkage in the parts book, I think the problem lies with the earlier manifold.
