The saginaw pump on my 360 seems to be boiling the fluid, or at least it comes out the cap after driving a while. It will start to whine about the same time, though there is still a decent amount of fluid in it.

The last time this happened I thought the return hose was leaking, so I replaced it but it just happened again today.

Is the pump going bad or is just the fluid getting too hot? With the headers the underhood temps are probably pretty high, but I never had a problem until recently.

If it aint over filled, it's probably a bad pressure relief valve in the pump - or crap stuck in the valve.

I thought that would cause a loss of assist? It still felt normal. Just pissing fluid everywhere and whining. I can smell the fluid start to burn on the headers before I hear the whining from the pump.

I don't think it's over filled.

Not necessarily. Pull the high side line, unscrew the relief valve and look at it. If it looks all chewed up from the pintle chattering on the seat, it's junk. If that's the case, your best bet is to flush the system and replace the pump.
