After all these years always checking for just parts I just got into this posting area. I finished the car on May 3rd 2010. I will post pics from start to finish. I wish I seen this area before. This car started out being an LA built car that I picked up in Burbank Ca. It was a weekend warrior with ony 62,878 miles. It is a very unusual one of 5 built in this color combo. 383 4 speed R/T. Very early LA built car. 107XXX. Built 9/25/69'. F4 Light Green Metallic with a V9J Chartreuse Stripe(SublimeFJ5) 383 Magnum 4 speed. Am Radio. A04 (basic radio group). Black interior, Rally wodgrain dash. Three speed wipers. Bucket seats and console. Hood pins. Both chrome racing mirrors.Tach. Dual exhaust and tips. It was a 12 second car. Someone painted it light blue. The body was absolutely mint. Super straight and rust free. 4:56 Locker 8 3/4 rear. It had a built 66' 383 with a solid cam. 915 heads. Headers. deep oil pan. It was switched to an automatic with B&M shifter. It had the first generation of Aluminum Centerline Racing wheels. This first photo is in California just before it was shipped to Mich. Now the Super Challenger rebuild. It is going back to original colors. It has a Dean Nicopolis custom built 528 Street Hemi with lots of goodies and speed secrets on pump gas. Keisler 5 speed trans.New Strange 4:10 Dana 60. ALL XV Motorsports Level II supension. Level II 6 Piston brakes. XV Stainless steel headers and Stainless steel 3" exhaust. XV frame ties (Very Nice pieces).18" Custom made HRE Wheels. 295/50/R18 rear. 245/50/R18 front. Recaro seats. Afco Hiflo Radiator. Shaker Hood. Spal electric cooling Fans. XV Hydro Boost system. XV Tilt Steering column. XV Power windows. XV Tinted glass. Every nut and bolt was touched on this car. I wanted to make this car a thumper with super handling and keep it pretty much trouble free on pump gas. Here is Photo one. I would like to Thank all that were involved with me. Especially a very good friend and fabricator Jim Ellsworth to without him and his input this car would not be what it is.John Buscema and his crew at XV Motorsports, Peter Bergman and Scott Landis. Brad Rutkowski for laying down some smooth as glass paint. Greg Dutton for doing the laser straight Body and getting all the gaps perfect. Paul at Roseville CP. Dean @ Mancini Racing. And a Super Thanks to the Late Great Hemi Guru Dean Nicopolis and his family who did the heart of this car which was the key to going with XV Suspension with such a good engine why not handle like a monster.

Thanks to All,
Dean

After getting all the welding done and everything fitted good in the car we took it all back apart and fitted the body all back together. I had Greg Dutton who does top show cars and prototype cars do all the door jambs and gaps. All were done to the exact gaps all the way around. This car was the cleanest and most straightest body I have had. There were no rust issues even in the glass channels. This car just had the usual Assy line big gaps.

The engine is a custom hand built all new 528 Hemi By the Late Great Ramchargers record holder Dean Nicopolis. He was the best in the business.A great guy with a big sense of humor. He is sadly missed. All components are new. It is a special grind cam that Dean came up with. His cams were all made for him out of billet stock by a guy in Missouri. The block is all epoxy painted inside so the oil runs back down fast. A lot of small mods were made to the block that you do not get with a crate engine. The heads had some work done to them also. Custom valve springs. All new Ferrara Stainless valves.Dick Landy Roller rockers. 440 Source Stroker crank. A set of new steel Hemi rods Dean had. rods. Arias 10:5 to 1 forged pistons. All balanced. Mopar Perf. Single plane intake with a few mods. All was assembled and done with TLC. This motor cranked out 700 H.p. on pump gas with room for lots of improvement. It is a hydralic roller cam that was not that radical. Great idling characteristics with lots of torque. The carb is a new Demon 850DR. New stock Hemi mechanical fuel pump. Stock 70 wrinkle valve covers were used in the end to clear the shock towers. All aluminum water pump housing were used. MSD Dist and Ignition.

Hi Guys, Thanks, I think it is the coolest build yet. That is a rare color combo. One of 5 I believe.Probably the only 4 speed built. The wheels are HRE 645's custom made for this car. These were the most balanced and perfect made wheels I have seen.18x9 Fronts. 18x10 rears. Tires are BF Goodrich G force.

The interior was done in Italian Leather by Top Notch Interiors of Livonia, Michigan. Ramone Oudeh. He does interiors for Jay Leno, Porsche and Rolls Royce, Concept cars etc. He does exec. work reasonable. We took stock Recaros and stripped them down and modified the frames and sculpted them to a cooler look.I had the guy's name I built the car for stitched in Sublime on the front seat covers and we made a custom dash cover with his name on it also. That was my Idea.

Here are the fronts. I kind of like these a retro 5 spoke. Kind of classic but it is not. Like the whole theme of the car.

The rear tires. I was also putting the car on the scales to check out the front and rear weight ratios.

Here is a good shot of the front. This whole set up was very very tight dropping the body on the K member.A lot of work went into making the oil pan fit. All the stainless braided lines. This has a Hydro Boost power brake system.Lots of tedius hours of custom fitting everything. But it all came together real nice. This car was made to be very practical with hardly any maintainence and beat the heck out of it.

The Heater box was restored new core and Kit From Moparts Member James (71 T/A). I also bought the firewall and body gasket kit from him. The heater box still had the part number stenciled on it from the factory.

Carpet is in. I put power windows in front and rear and wired it all looked factory. The Kit I bought from XV Motorsports. Carpet and dash are in.Headliner is in. The carbon fiber dash applique I bought from (71 T/A) also. That gave it the new look with the original gauges, Thanks James it was a good touch.

All New Pinkerton Glass going in. I have used both AMD and PPG also. PPG is the best and is expensive. Too me it is worth it. This was Pinkerton and it is nice also. It does not have any Mopar Corp decals like AMD. AMD Glass has a lot of tonq marks were they break it off the mold. That is not me in the pic but my helper Jimmy Ellsworth.

This was my shot after firing it up. This beast fired up the first try and sounds very wicked. The hardest headache was almost getting the Shaker Hood base to fit correctly on the single four barrel. It was a metal base from Ben Snobar and the scoop. Lots and lots of modifacation let me tell you. It is not a simple task.A lot of modifying to the carb base.I had to find the right K&N filter that cleared the carb and had to be low enough so the air cleaner scoop would not hit the top or the hood.

I like this one. I came up with the new Challenger R/T emblems at the last minute. Goes with the cars colors and theme instead of the original Hemi Emblems on the scoop. Plus they were only $5.63 Each

Nice shot. This was the fear back in the day when you came up to a light on Woodward or Telegraph Roads late on a Friday night and you see the Shaker scoop with Hemi on it.

Interior all done. The only thing not done on the interior in this shot are the door inserts. I did them with carbon fiber also. They look real trick.

Wow, what a great looking car. The paint color and stripe go great together. I love it.

I like the wheels too. Do you have a full 3/4 shot of the car? Great job!

Thanks Burdar and all those who replied. I was going to wait until tomorrow. I skipped quite a few shots along the way. This is the original color combo for this car. I am ever so glad I did it in the original color combo. This car was an early built LA plant car. Sept 13th 1969. 383 4 speed R/T. The stripe code was V9J.

These next ones are cool shots highlighting the car and parts. You can tell this car was done right with no cut corners. It is a true every nut and bolt, every inch of the car was done or touched.

I really like this one. Chrysler should have used this in the original 70 Brochure to sell the pistol grip.

This car we took out and put it thru some pretty good street racing scenarios I used to do in my past. I used to do things and stunts to Mopars back in the mid 70's that I should not be here right now.Yes Jesus Loves me! I am a true Mopar Die Hard and have been since 1974. This car is truly a one of a kind that will not be duplicated. It has monstrous brute torque and horse power at command thanks to the Late Great Ramcharger Dean Nicopolis. It sticks in the corners and handles better than any Ferrari or high end European super cars. John Buscema at XV Motorsports really did his homework on his suspension and brake systems. I think he has the best out there for our cars. This is the only car built with his suspension that we used the old style Hemi not the newer style. Everything was tight but worked well with just some minor tweaking and modifactions. Kudos to John and the guys at XV Motorsports. We took this car out late at about 2am on the freeways 45 minutes west of my shop and this car got up to 150 Mph fast and it stuck like glue with a lot more throttle and motor left. Stopping was no problem with six piston calipers. Those G Force tires do work awesome too. This is all on pump gas. The car has it's own unique deep sound thru the tips that leaves you with goose bumps and the hair on your neck stand out. Dean did a lot of porting on the heads and a lot of masagging all thru the block and motor and you can tell he put his heart and soul into every Hemi he ever built. I had the pleasure to have him build me the last two bad azz Hemis he ever did before he became to Ill with cancer. Both are going to be with this car. The back up motor is a even bigger 572 Hemi pushing 950 to a 1000 H.P. on pump gas. I cannot imagine this car with that one in it. I hope everyone enjoys this thread as much as I did building it. This whole car was my idea and my insight from start to finish. The wheels to the custom little touches were all mine. This was a unique car even when it was new.I guess it was destined to be a Super Challenger since sept 1970. It sure is a lot more fun when you deal with quality guys and the top craftsman in their fields where headaches can arise in these areas. This car was done far less than you would've imagined. The guy I built this car for
Mr. Thomas Bengtsson who is truly a super guy and I appreciate people like him. He has some really trick cars. A 55' Chevy by Boyd's and others out in California etc. He told me when he came here to see the car for the first time he was very nervous about how it was going to turn out. It was done last May and when he walked into my shop right off the plane that it took his breath away. He told me it was the most beautiful car he had ever seen. He said the quality, craftsmanship and finish were better than his other cars by far. Chip Foose who?(LMAO) That made me feel real good. I have to say that over owning a ton of rare factory Mopar's, Hemi's,
Super Stock cars, Some real rare. This one I really loved and hated to see it go.That is rare for me. It is in Sweden now.It will be debuted in April 2011 at some big car show over there and I am flying out to be there with it. That is rare for me. Again in closing I would like to thank all those involved with me on this car Especially the Late Great Dean Nicopolis and his Family for building the heart of this beast. Moparts members I bought things from. Roseville CP., Mancini Racing(Dean). B/E A parts.XV Motorsports. My Good friend Jim Ellsworth. Brad Rutkowski for the awesome paint.Greg Dutton for the body work. Ramon Oudeh from Top Notch interiors. And so on.I will gladly answer any qustions or send photos if any one wishes to. Or if you need any help with this kind of build.
Sincerely,
Dean ( Yes that is me in this pick)

Job well done. I love it. I love the color to. You hit it out of the park on the rims by going with the 5 spoke and the size fits the car well. Im suprised no console. But none the less looks awesome.

Thanks Guys. I really appreciate all the replies. The body was the cleanest I ever had. It was stripped down to bare metal. It only had 1 repaint over the original green and SUBLIME STRIPE. There was hardly a dent or ding in it. It was not tubbed nor did we stretch the wheel wells etc. The wheels fit great with perfect clearence. It would have been a crime to modify this body. All Challengers are Super 451 D.

This just might be my favorite challenger ever! I like the color since that is the color that my charger was from the factory. I can safely say that it will get painted this same color when the time comes. I like how you kept the colors original while modifying it for a sleeper look. Nothing against the high impact colors but it is nice to see something new! Very well done!

This is by far the most amazing Challenger I have ever seen. It is so detailed and powerful. As much as I love originality, I'd take this car any day. Tell the owner to try auditioning it to be a movie car. Let the world see it and put it to use.
