I have these springs,

Took my valve covers off and some of the seals are torn up and laying next to the springs?
I used the stock seals, should I have used a different type?
I replaced them last year. 452 heads.
These are the seals,

Stock type seals should be no problem with a single spring with a damper. Where they run into problems is with a true multiple spring which a spring with a damper is not.

Looks like it was the flater larger seals are the ones that were torn up. I can't remember which ones these were intake or exhaust.
Why did they wear out so soon?
Is there a better seal?
Thanks

My machinist uses teflon seals. The old heads were on for 7 years with comp springs that were duals. He installed the same seals with the new aluminum heads and the same Comp springs as I had on the old heads.Rocky
