Any suggestions on what to use to remove the handle? I can get an .008 feeler gauge down one side but can't seem to get anything down the other side and it almost seems like it can't get past the first pin area. Anyone ever have this happen and how'd you get past it?

are you talking about the woodgrain knob on a bodys? it's held on with a small allen set screw. then unscrew the whole knob and black center.

no sounds like a pistol grip handle .

put in the feeler blade and give the handle a good hard yank

I am talking about the slip fit handle for a 70 duster.

Usually you can put two feeler gauges down the sides and remove it but I can't seem to get one down on one of the sides.

Just was curious if there was a particular size of shim etc. that people used to get past the pin on the side. I am guessing it is seized or something.

same thing as i said above , put in the feeler blade and give it a good hard yank

have you tried pushing the handle back down while trying to get that other blade in ?

You have to do both sides right? It's been years since I did this and yes my blades were bending too. I don't think there is any way that two hacksaw blades will fit as on .010 and one .008 won't hardly fit.

I just used the one side. I put a rag over the blade to protect my hand so you can move it around while you pull up on the handle.

Should be only on the drivers side. If you have trouble let me know and I can send you a picture of
one out of a car.

the driver's side is the side that I can't get the feeler gauge to go down. Drats..

It is almost like it hits that area where the first little pin is on the outer casing.

I remember not having any issues doing the pistol grip in the cuda but this one is a bear. for some reason I thought both sides had to be done. Will try again this evening when it cools off.
