it seems I am having a ground problem with my gas gauge and need to make a ground in the dash area. Do I want the ground wire connected to the positive side of the gauge? Does each gauge have to be grounded in the dash area?

Do you have the ground strap that grounds the tank /sending unit to the steel line?

everything by the gas tank is hooked correctly and test just fine and when we cross the power by the tank the gauge reads full so the gauge is ok

If the ground strap jumping the rubber hose is in place and still not working then your steel fuel line isn't grounded. When this happens I just run a ground from the sender to the frame with a separate wire.
