Chasing a non-spark problem on my 66 300, changed the electronic module tonight ran for awhile then died again. I'm assuming its the "relay" in the distributor;

By the way I converted to electronics to eliminate the points sytem.

Any directions folks can offer so I don't screw this up tomorrow/today. I've never torn into a distributor, so would like as much detail as possible.

Thanks in advance...........pun intended.

Really the only problem in the dizzy would be the gap between the reluctor and pick up (.008 with a brass feeler gauge).If necessary both can be easily removed. The relutor is pryed off and the pick up is held into place with screws (like points would be). Personally I think your ECU is the prob. good luck

Hey Kuda, thanks.....................I've replaced the ECU. That's what I thought it was as well. So I'm moving on to the next logical step. There is spark from the coil when you turn the key off and on, but none when you try to fire up the car.

that makes me think on pick up coil damaged or its wiring.

Damaged ECU or fail on ground wouldn't produce anykind or spark at any moment ( as far I know )

You might want to replace the ballast resistor. If you have power with the key on but lose it in the start position that is usually the problem.
