The gas tank in my 71 Duster is completely shot, and it had one of those vent tubes next to the filler neck in the trunk. The vent has 5 connections coming from the bottom. I have mint cond. used tank that I pulled from a 74 Dart Sport. But this tank does not have the 5 vent lines, it only has one. So what do I do I looked in Year One and on Ebay , and all the new replacement tanks are single vent style tanks. So How do I make a single vent tank work in my car? What was so different in the 74 cars, that they only needed 1 vent? And BTW, the filler neck from the 74 is longer than the one on the 71, is this gonna be a problem too?
Thats ecc or no ecc. There are 2 different tanks depending on which you have. Not sure how many vent lines on the tank though. Specta makes them and rockauto.com sells them.

Yes, thats it. Do I have to use that style tank, or can I make the single vent tank from the 74 car work?
I have the same tank originally and I can tell you that it is going buh bye quickly. You'll have to get the non-ecs fill tube also if you buy the non-ecs tank.
There was no way I was going to mess with that spaghetti under the car etc. Not only that but you have yet another line that has to run to the engine compartment to the breather.
Just get the non-ecs tank from your favorite supplier and find a non-ecs fill tube like I did. That is the hard part.
Now do me a favor and snap a picture of your fuse block so I can see what fuses go where as my stenciling is basically all gone.

I already have the tank and fill tube from the 74 Dart, and the charcoal canister that went in the engine compartment, so I should be all set up right? As far as your fuseblock dilemma, I'd love to help you out, but my car has no wiring at all, sorry
