Last weekend I pulled an 8 3/4 rear from a 68 belvedere 4 door I took the sure grip out for my Bee.So I thought the hosing and axles would be the same as what is in my Bee.But the housing is a 1/2 in shorter overall lenght and so are the axles. So is a belvedre a b-body I thoght all the 68 to 70s had the same size housings.Could someone shed some light on what I have here. The rear in my Bee measures 55 inches from the outside flange to outside flange no backing plates installed. The one from the belvedre is 54 1/2.

I used a set of 8 3/4 axles from a '69 Coronet 4 door in a '68 Charger housing in my other road runner. fit like a glove. maybe the rear in your Belvedere had been swapped in from an older car?

perhaps the 4 doors are a 1/2 "narrower, but I wouldn't think so. I had always hear they were all the same, so I didn't bother measuring. I wouldn't think a 1/4" for each axel would be a problem. I ran my car for 5 years, drove it hard on ocassion, never had any problems.

According to what I have read:

Std track first measurement
Spring seat center to center second measurement

A body 67-72 55.6 43.0
B body 62-70 59.2 44.0
E body 70-74 60.7 46.0
B body 71-74 62.0 47.3
B body 71-74 S/wag 63.4 47.3

I did not find flange to flange.
Are the perches the same? Have you tried to test fit the pumpkin & axles? I do not know the tolerances they could be ok.

Clean it, if it's Dirty. Oil it, if it Squeaks. But: Don't fix it, if it Works!

Use this one... The other with the chart has some incorrect info in it.
