what is the probable cause of a slight hesitation/stumble at takeoff? It does good at cruising, but at take off from a stand still it has a slight hesitation. I guess you need to know this, its a 1973 318, automatic, new plugs, plug wires and rebuilt carb.

really only 2 choices. Not enough fuel, or too much.
Depends on if it hesitates, or bogs.

Well, I have a 440 Hi Po motor in my 67 Chrysler 300. It has in-line dual quads on a single plane manifold. At low speed and small throttle openings, there is a definate bog. Give the gas a good push and it goes away. Front carb is an Eddy Performer and the rear is the original Carter AFB.

I would guess the accelerator pump not adjusted properly. With the slightest opening of the throttle there should be a squirt of gas in the primary venturis. This should be immediate. If there is any delay in the gas squirting, there will be hesitation. Adjust the spring on the Holley carbs or linkage on other carb designs.
