Got one in my little iron motor with a .620 lift flat tappet cam. Never had a problem. Probably 400 - 500 passes.

Mine came from Jegs a few years back. Not sure if they even make one for BB Mopar anymore.

Ran one for several years as well on a drag car with no issues at all. Then we put the same car on the street and the only problem I had then was at every stoplight explaining to people the car didnt have a blower.

I use one on my 383 and it worked great. Timing was always rock steady.

I was thinking of going back with one. When I found out the price of a Jesel belt drive. But was afraid they might eat up some horse-power. So I ended up using a Indy timing chain. It look fairly nice just hope I did not make a mistake.

About twenty+ years ago we had the side plates on the idlers break on two Pete Jackson gear drives, never used them since.

Ted, I asked Scott about running one in mine.

He said A good chain is all you need.

He did mention some issues with them as reasons not to use it but for the life of me I can't fricken remember what they were

Ted,

Saw two guys that I race with have the dual idler gears come apart! They both got lucky and it caused minimal damage! Both mopars by the way. I dont believe these were Pete Jackson brand drives though but the same setup none the less. Do yourself a favor and get a good chain and forget about it! Not that a chain cant have problems but they have a better track record IMO!

Here's the one I used

I'm sure they'd have one for a three bolt

Two things that I remember reading here on Moparts:

1. Filings from gear wear can be a problem.

2. Proper oiling of the gears can be an issue.

Sure can't beat the sound of one.

nice chain Bill...looks like its easy to degree a cam in with...

Ted..my 499 has the Jessel belt drive...I know thats expensive and probably out of the question and there is some minor machining that is involved..

if I did it all over again I might have looked into the Milodon gear setup or a real good chain..only to save a few bucks..
