What is the most power you guys have thrown at a 727?

I was going to convert to a glide for my new turbo big block set up but i wont have the extra funds this year for the glide and all the fab work ,driveshaft etc. I was hoping to turn the boost down a bit so i can race till fall.

do you have stock shafts and planetaries? stock drum? if all those items (along with the usual billet servos and so on) have been replaced, it'll hold infinite power. i'd stick with the torqueflite. i love 'em.

for what is the good life if not doing things thoughtfully?

I would say safely 700. Remember the old Hemi SS cudas and darts basically had a similar tranny to what you have and made at least 500 hp stock then got beefed up and were probably pushing 700 back in the day when billet this and that wasn't available.

An aftermarket steel drum might be good but I like the aluminum ones better for that much power because of the RPM that thing sees(quite a bit more than the engine RPM by the way).

I am not causing global warming, I am just trying to hold off a impending Ice Age!
