I've seen many threads talking about how the bigger tires require a bigger wheel.

It's true, the bigger wheel is the better pick from an all around performance standpoint.
BUT if you have to go stock steelie it can work.

I figured I'd post some pics of what I was running, and what I have gone to...

Old tires were 295/50/15 on a cop wheel.
They are worn down from a lot of abuse, and seem to be as even as I could have expected.

Now 305/50/15 on the car. Same wheels. I had them laying around, and buying tires isn't in my budget.

Fills the wheel well nicely. I liked the wayt he 295's drove, so I'm sure I'll like these too.

Thats worked nice. Right now I have my 10" tread Hoosier's on a 7" steelie as thats all I had. It works ok but I do plan to go to an 8" steelie when I can get some. This is the best pic I have of my back wheels and its not a very good pic of my rear wheels. Ron

Yeah it can work, I just really don't care for the bulge look it causes on the rubber. I've got 7"ers on the back of my car now and I will get 10" when I can afford it. Just makes the rear tire look so much more ballsy.

Funny I was just thinking about this again I have 295 50 15's on my car right now on a 10" rim. I am sure that a 305 will sit on the same rim OK wonder if it will still fit in my well anyone know how much the dimensions change with the wider/slightly taller tire?
Tire will be .4" taller how much wider?
Seems like .33" if my math is right
295 has a 10" tread pattern.

Using a percentage 10"x305=3050
Then divide by 295 it's like 10.33" tread width and change.

Just dont know what the tire bulge with would be currently it's like 12.5" not much room to grow here

I took the 305's off of a set of 10" wheels.

They looked really great on there, but the offset wouldn't even fit under the car.

Nice squared off look. total width is less than 1/2" more on the 305, so I think it would work for you.

Like the pic with the hoosiers too 383man

Looks good to bad the 305-50-15`s are no longer available they were a nice size between a 295 & 325.
