I am building a mild 340 for a 73 RR, street only with 323 or 355 gears. Should I try to find a 727A or just use the 904 I have laying here? Which trans would have likely come in this car? 904 or 727. It is an orig 340 auto car. Data tag is too rusted to read. I have a 904 and am looking for a 727A without luck so far.

727 should be easy to find , how many do you need ?

the 904 will work , if you beat it you might want to find or modify your to A998 , 5 clutch drums , status .

you car would originally have had a 727 .

904.(1)lighter(static & rotating)(2) more clearance.they do need more beefing.One guy was in the 10's with a SB/904/66val with not that much trick stuff in it.
