Is there anything special about the rivets to attach the air grabber scoop to the hood? Are they local hardware stuff or do I have to get ones specific to the air grabber? If I can buy them from Ace Hardware does anyone know what size to ask for? I have a 70 RR if that makes a difference. Thanks

I can tell you that Ace has them and that they are almost identicle to real ones...forget the size but if you go look at the rivets on the hook it will be pretty obvious due to the large head.

Take the pic of what e-bay'rs are selling as exact rivets and Ace will get you very close. I think I bought a clamshell of 25 rivets for about $3.00. They worked great and also have the rivet hand gun you need to make it work...half what the resto stores sell it for.

I am sorry, but installed I can barely tell the difference between my Ace rivets and originals. Depends if you are being judged at the Mopar Nats or not I guess.

Maybe I`ll try buying them at Ace Hardware. Their price seems lower than the wholesale price I`ve been paying and I buy them in 500 count boxes.

not what you were asking, but on my 70 runner i put silicone on and in the pins (that hinge the door, and our covered by the shark teeth decal) it keeps the decal from ripping when the scoop opens and closes. i know not what you were looking for but a tip i thought i would share

Am I wrong or don't the rivets hold a 69 air grabber to the hood? My 70, bolts to the metal bracket on the underside????????? Just asking.....

I do think that the rivets are for 69 only

there is a row of screws on either outer end of the side air boxes but 69 used rivets otherwise

What I need for a 70 is the 10 studs that hold the fiberglass air grabber to the base of the hood. They are flat on one side and welded to the bracket that is welded to the hood if that makes any sense.

i know the studs you speak of,but didn't think it was possible to replace without seperating from hood skin. good luck maybe you could make one with the correct thread, once in place nobody would be able to tell. just a thought

70 RR air grabber does not have any rivets to mount to hood. It has studs that are tack/spot welded to flange on underside of hood. Do not know of a way that they can be replaced without removing the flange from hood. To do this you have to drill out several spot welds.

I had a 70 GTX airgrabber car. Two of the stids snapped off. They were easily welded back on with a tig welder.
