Anyone on here have any experience with a Milidon gear drive set up and a TCI Rattler balancer? I'm concerned with the screws on the back side of balancer hitting the idler cover on the front cover.
Also I got this unit with out the alignment dowels (5/16"). Are the dowels the same size from end to end or different diameter on each end? The dowels should be a slight press fit in the block but not in the cover.
Thanks for any input,
Brian

I'll answer my own question...****(insert 4 letter word here)NO it won't fit/work. The back of the damper hits the seal bore before it goes all the way up. The opening between the snout and the ring had too small of a diameter.
I basicly wasted all day on this sum B. Going 170 miles round trip to pick it up, looking for dowel pins, cleaning & checking, only to find out it won't work with my damper.
*%>$#!^#*

Anyone have any idea WHICH dampers will fit it?
Thanks, Brian

Can't help on the damper but the dowels on block are stock as are the holes in gear drive/timing cover , they are a pretty tight fit into the cover.

Not to hi-jack but ...

If the timing cover has to space out from the block to accomodate a geardrive, what happens to the damper spacing? Are there spacers made to space the damper out ?

Thanks,

Here's what I'm talking about ... the plate is 1/8" thick.

My dowels were a straght 5/16. Once your gear lash is set you run your 5/16 reamer down through the hardened steel inserts in the milodon timing cover and ream the block to size. I got the info on setting gearlash on the milodon site. Cover fit very tight on the dowels when I was done but gearlash stays put. As far as TCI I am not sure, I did have to buy the longer hub for my ATI because the damper hit the cover.

The dowels are not the same size on each end. One side is ground and will slip fit into the cover. The other end is ment to fit into the block after drilling. You need to mount the cover and use the newspaper as instructed to get the prper backlash. This will position the cover for drilling the pin holes. Then you use the proper drill/ream to get the dowl pin hole size.
If you look at the pins, you will see what I'm talking about. Do not expect them to fit into the block as-is.
