the dash pad in my Sat-o-lot has a nice big crack in it.
its been there for the entire 27 years ive owned the car.....and its growing a little bit in size each year.
the vinyl is hard and brittle, and i'm tired of looking at it....so its time for an upgrade.
i had much of the dash apart anyway, so i figured now was the time to remove the pad, since i knew it wasnt really a "fun" job.

so, its out.....and i'm looking at my options.

i'm not too keen on the molded urethane type replacement, and a new "skin" for this old pad didnt seem like a permanent enough solution for something thats this much of a PITA to replace.

so, i'm thinking my options are sending it out to someone like Just Dashes, or even buying one of the new 69-70 repro dashes that A/B & E body parts is selling(anyone seen one of these first hand yet?).

i'm not really worried about the 69 dash pad not being "correct".....so long as its not "cracked".

anyone know if the mounting holes for the 68 and 69 are in the same place?

anyone had a dash pad redone at Just Dashes?
what kind of $$$ are we talking about to have that done?

There is someone selling them on the bag for b-bodies and according to their write up they are doing it right. About $237 IIRC.

I bought a repo dash pad for my 68 Runner from one of the big places and when it arrived I was shocked to find out it was made from recycled trash can rubber ! What a pile of junk. I send it back and had Just Dashes redo mine.
I was very pleased with the results. I am sure the holes are the same for both years, I have seen too many cars with the wrong one installed.

The BE/A pad is a nice piece. Has a metal frame and is new. Haven't yet installed on my 69 charger. I have the other repro on now and have heard that eventually it will sag. Bought it before the BE/A piece was out. Call up Mike you'll be glad, and he can tell you which frames his piece works for. Mike

When I did a 66 Charger a few years back, the pad was cracked up bad. The 66-7 Charger has a deeper pad than the other 66-7 B-bodies. I had a local upolstery shop cover it and as the car was a driver it was great. No it wasn't just like it had when it left the factory but it was clean and neat and it only cost my about $75.00. I plan to do the same on my 64 Polara when the time comes.

Myself I would stick with the 68 pad, looks a lot better in my opinion. I have even put 68 pads in 69's , non org cars, in the past as I like them better. Don't know about the repops, but just dashes did a dash for a 74 RR I helped my buddy with and all I cam say is WOW! It came out perfect, but also came with a hefty price tag $700. You dash is a much smaller part so it would be cheaper 4 sure. Here's a pic of the 74 pad
