What's the best way to test a coil? I'm getting about 1.7 to 1.9 ohms between terminals. Is this a good range? The car just cranks and cranks but will not turn over. The battery is brand new. Thanks for any info.

"Crank" and "turn over" usually means the same thing.

What you mean is that it "cranks" but won't run

Do you have points or electronic?

Have you pulled the coil wire to check for spark?

If you have points, check them AND the condenser.

Have you checked the coil/ ballast resistor?

Are you getting battery on the ignition side of the ballast?

run 12v to one of the pri terminals & with a jumper wire on the other pri terminal touch it to ground momentarily while holding the coil wire 1/4" from the valve cover & see if you have a spark. a coil can misfire or quit when hot but this basic test will get you started & you could put your VOM on X1000 & check resistance between the secondary terminal & (either)one of the pri terminals.

The car cranks but will not start. It's a mopar electronic ignition system .I've only checked the coil with a VOM,and tried a new ballast resistor.Do you pull the coil wire, start the car and check for spark? Thanks again
