Great site! Thanks Moparts! I didn't see any 69 Barracuda projects so I thought I'd post. I bought this from the Moparts for sale 3 years ago. It was 40 minutes away. I had to have it. Thanks to Joe for selling it and making sure all the parts stayed with it! It's a 340 4 speed with factory air, no console, ralley dash, deluxe interior, 3.23 SG, disc brakes, power steering, rear defog, remote side mirror and probably some other options. It was originally a North Carolina car with undercoating. I did not have to replace any sheet metal except a left inner front fender and it came with two nice replacement front fenders and a bunch of nice parts.

I got it back from the paint shop at the end of January. It looks like a different car now! Original rocker moldings and 3 of the original wheel lip moldings plus one more original that I bought off of a Moparts response to my parts wanted ad for $20. I had Matt at MCB restore the trim. I'm glad that I did because it all fits like a glove. Right now, he's finishing up welding and painting the plastic grill surrounds and he reanodized the inside trim ring and had one outer trim rechromed. I have an NOS outer trim ring for the other side. I think the brite work will be sharp on this car..

Here's one of the nice parts that came with it, an NOS trunk finish panel!

We did not strip the undercoating. We blasted whatever surface rust and lose stuff that came off, a few coats of epoxy primer mixed to look like zinc phosphate and the used a shutz gun and proper undercoating to go over the original undercoat. It looks better in person but definitely looks 100% factory.

Engine compartment pic. Right now, the short block is together and I'm filling pits in the oil pan and valve covers so I can finish assembling and painting it. I will put it in from underneath with some help of my friends, Mark and Craig

The motor was complete. The only aftermarket parts on it were the plug wires. The original filler cap was black, I just put the chrome one on to see what it looked like. The 340's really needed a little dress up. I wonder why Ma Mopar made it so plain?

Had to take it off of the rotisserie to fit the nose.

The car also came with a complete NOS silver grill, which I am not going to use. I cannot believe the car did not get sold the day it was listed on Moparts! My good luck I guess, although, it needed every square inch restored. It is really hard to find nice complete original cars for a reasonable price these days and it had a very accurate ad. On the other hand, only a crazy few of us Mopar enthusiasts would tackle such a job.

Here is a picture of a pretty rare part, an NOS 69 Barracuda grill! Again, my predecessor did a great job with some of the parts and was very good to deal with. This is a good opportunity to mention that I think all the guys that I have dealt with on Moparts have come through equal to or better than my expectations. Recently, I found someone on the site who was posting about working on his grills. I contacted him to see if he had any spare retainers for the inserts as 90% of mine were rusted out. He sent me what he had without even asking for a price. I have had others send me parts before they got the money. There are a lot of good guys who participate on here. Again, thanks to Moparts and also thanks to the people who have come through for me on parts and to those of you with excellent restoration posts and responses. OK, now I'll get off the soap box.

Nice job on a great car! I think my favorite driving Mopars are 4 speed, 340, 68-69 Cuda's.

John, looks GREAT!!! Hope to see it at Carlisle this year? I think we spoke last year when you were comparing battery trays on the M-code A-bodies?

I'm the CARETAKER of Weinstats '69 440 'cuda registry and have 104 of the 360 cars to date. 84 fastbacks/20 coupes. Always looking for new(REAL M-code) '69 440 'cudas to add to the registry so drop me a note if any are found or known. This isn't a publicly released registry. Thanks, Dave

Good memory! My wife is cracking the whip because she wants to drive it to Carlisle. It's a long shot at this point but it would be nice. By the way, do you know anyone that has a good tinted passenger door glass for a FB? Mine is rough. It's kind of gouged out in a few places in the middle of it. I've never seen any damage like it? I could also use two good bumper guards. I decided not to fill the holes before rechroming the bumpers so now I need to find a couple more good ones. I was supposed to get my grills back a couple of months ago and am still waiting...etc., etc. The good news is that I have nice surrounds. One is NOS and one rechromed. It'll come together but it's a struggle because I'm not that familiar with A bodys. If it was a Road Runner, it would be running by now!
