Great site! Thanks Moparts! I didn't see any 69 Barracuda projects so I thought I'd post. I bought this from the Moparts for sale 3 years ago. It was 40 minutes away. I had to have it. Thanks to Joe for selling it and making sure all the parts stayed with it! It's a 340 4 speed with factory air, no console, ralley dash, deluxe interior, 3.23 SG, disc brakes, power steering, rear defog, remote side mirror and probably some other options. It was originally a North Carolina car with undercoating. I did not have to replace any sheet metal except a left inner front fender and it came with two nice replacement front fenders and a bunch of nice parts.

John, looks GREAT!!! Hope to see it at Carlisle this year? I think we spoke last year when you were comparing battery trays on the M-code A-bodies?
I'm the CARETAKER of Weinstats '69 440 'cuda registry and have 104 of the 360 cars to date. 84 fastbacks/20 coupes. Always looking for new(REAL M-code) '69 440 'cudas to add to the registry so drop me a note if any are found or known. This isn't a publicly released registry. Thanks, Dave

2nd Gen Barracuda grilles are defintely on the difficult to side to find in good shape. Thankfully the 67s were made entirely out of metal, I can only imagine how difficult it is to find the plastic 68 and 69s.

I bought s repro one off of an EBAY source. It looks OK but probably has a few less fins per inch. I can go ahead and get my grills, bumper and valence installed now.

Made some more progress on the car this week. Spent a half day yesterday mounting and installing side markers. Ordered replacement rubbers for the bumper guards and wnd brackets for the bumpers from Laysons. Ordered springs and front end kit from Espo Springs and Things, some instrument needle paint from Dashworx, an A/C drier and a bunch of nuts and bolts from Bill at A&M Hitec. Wife Susan bead blasted parts...but the weather is not quite good enough to fill pits, sand and paint yet. The control arms are done but lots of pits to fill in them as well as the valve covers, oil pan and rear axle housing. I would like to have the car on the ground with the motor in it by end of April. My friend has a dolly for putting motor, trans, etc. in from underneath but he is moving so fast on his Dart GTS convertible resto that it will probably be tied up when I get to being ready...

Finally got the rear ready! Spent the last 2 weekends filling pits and sanding on it. My front spring hanger brackets are pretty bad so I am waiting for some new used ones that are supposed to be nice...otherwise, I would have installed it today. I can't wait to get the rear on the ground. My wife spent the afternoon blasting lower and upper control arms so that we can get the front end together next. Motor, trans and front end are going in from underneath.
Did you use body filler or glazing putty to fill the pits? I am getting ready to do this. Looks very nice

John, do you have the right plastic clips for the valve cover to spark plug wires? Looks like you have the early style on later style valve covers
I think I have one original clip that isn't broken. I know the replacement clips don't fit tight like the originals. I'll compare the clips to my originals but the valve covers are undoubtedly original to the car. It's a Dec 9 SPD.

The clips on the top of the covers should hold all 4 wires and are reproduced. As far as replacement clips being loose put a dab of weatherstrip adheasive in the groove of the clip and glue it to the valve cover. No one will know but you.

Back at it. It's been slow going. Spent all weekend doing the firewall insulation, the roof insulation and painted the power brake booster and related parts. Nothing went smoothly. There is no instructions with the firewall insulation. The pins that REM provides are not correct. The OE pins are impossible to push thru. I made a tool but still had trouble hammering them in. The firewall insulation are just dropping yellow fiberglass dust like mad. Nothing like OE insulation. The REM roof insulation is cotton. Not like OE and not cut to size.
John your not alone by far! Makes you wonder how some of these company's stay in business! It isn't like they can't reproduce a good part....they just figure something is better than nothing Anyway post up when ya can! D

It doesn't help that I am a little rusty. A couple of tips, make sure your roof insulation is cut to the right size before you glue it up. The last one I did fit perfect with no cuttng...it was not made by REM. The other thing is install your firewall installation before your brake and clutch pedals. Finally, I bought one of those 180 Watt AM/FM/6 CD changer converted AM radios years ago and am putting it in the Barracuda. While wiring the dash, I decided to see what I could wire from the new radio. The first thing I notice is that the antenna jacks for the FM modulator will not plug into the radio or accept the antenna cable. Basically, the antenna is rerouted thru the modulator but the hookups are not compatible with any car radio or antenna as far as I can tell? I had to download a photo resizing program to my new computer. If it works, I'll post a couple of photos.

JD, I had SM Electric (turnswitch.com) convert a radio for the Cuda build I finished last year. And it sounds pretty good, so I had them do one for the 1969 Charger in the shop now.
Completely stock looking and the only added wires are speaker wire.

For a short while, I thought the new dash wiring harness was not correct. You have to buy a separate one for the A/C. There are connections between the two and you have to use your old one for a template. The new fuse box doesn't come with the A/C terminals and you have to make sure you have everything wired the way the old one was. I don't know how you'd do it if you didn't have a complete old one to go by? The wiring gets a little more complicated with A/C. Also, the new one doesn't come with the maplight wire or the under the dash reverse light wire and you have to save them and plug them in to the right locations. Another dash photo.
Out of curiosity for my own knowledge, what Barracuda gets the woodgrain and which one gets the non-woodgrain rallye dash? I've seen them both offered, is the woodgrain for 340 and up cars and black/silver rallye dash for 318 and /6 cars?

It’s been 6 years since I last posted on this one and 8 years since I started posting about my Barracuda project. Some of you will be glad to know that I will be debuting it on the showfield in Carlisle in 3 weeks. Still waiting for some new A/C lines but otherwise done. Look for the B5 blue 340S fastback probably in the rows inside of Gate 3 where they usually have the A-body cars. Looking forward to it!

Very nice. Really wish I could have scored the '69 S 340, 4spd. back in the early 80s (and kept it). Tim

Cool, I will see it at Carlisle! I wish this one would have been finished before the drivetrain was stolen, 69 M-Code 440 notch...

I wish mine was an M code..FYI, I bought the purple 14x 4” steel wheels from you a few years ago for my fastback. They are on the car now (painted black of course) with deluxe 14” wheel covers and Goodyear redlines

Cool, I recently saw some pictures of those purple wheels I had saved, glad they went to a good cause! I like Blue Barracudas, my old boss had an M-Code fastback that was beautiful.

It was nice finally meeting Big-Block-Dave! Thanks for coming by Dave and saying hi. I was very flattered to get some nice recognition by a lot of people for my car at Carlisle this year! I still have some work to do on it but am glad to say it was a successful weekend.
