Hi Guys...Just got a 64 max wedge in the shop with the original 3705 carbs...It was set up for racing and now I'm putting it back to original condition with the choke equipment in place.. Getting all the parts and info together...Was there any linkage for a fast idle on these??? Any pics would be very helpful...

Yes, they have fast idle linkage on the throttle lever side of the carb just like the automatic choke carbs but a cable bracket and lever replace the choke thermostat on the opposite side.

Hi John, I recieved a box with most the original choke parts including the shafts, plate, and the manual lever with the brass hold-down screw for the choke cable but so far no fast idle linkage or cable/carb attachment hardware... That's why I was asking...I'm hoping the owner has another box of parts somewhere.. The initial check reveals the throttle shafts are a little looser than I'd like so I might need an insert kit for these carbs..

Just a folow-up on the 3705{one year only}max wedge carbs...There's no provision for a fast idle on these just like the earlier and more common 63 carbs...I did'nt want to take anything for granted other than the obvious differences between years....And I did find the choke cable brackets so I'm good to go...Firewall still has the original choke cable grommet but looks like the cable itself is gone...I'll post some pics after the engine bay freshen-up...Looks like a 64 max wedge convert is a rare beast from the info I'm gathering...

Choke Side (choke cable clamp not attached, cable nut and arm are reproductions). If you need parts Norm Brady nbrady@crossramconnection.com can probably help you, he has a bunch of nice reproduction parts as well as originals, he also makes a nice reproduction carb tag for 3705's that now have the correct ribs, etc.

Excuse the brain fart in my first reply, I forgot that I ran 9755's on my MW clone.

Thanks for the pics guys...Scott, as usual your work is fantastic !!! ....The carbs still have the original tags on them and we drove the car so I could see a baseline for the performance...I'll get more pics and post them including the choke grommet for you Danny ...Hey John, no biggie it just made me dig a little deeper for more info...Man, I love learning new stuff especially pertaining to the max wedge era...They're some wild engines !!! This is the first one I got to drive...

No problem on the pics, and thanks for the props. I am pretty sure I know that car, it looks like the same one we had on the lift at the ICCA Judging tent at Mopars At The Strip a while back? I have a ton of detail pics of that car, some details right, some wrong, but regardless, it's a very nice car. It had a 64 Max Wedge block in it at the time but I believe it's had an engine swap since then to a correct 63? Do your carbs have stamped in numbers on the feet or not? Are the tags 3705S or 3705SA?

*John, don't sweat it man, we all know that you have your MW stuff down!

Scott, We're still going over all the documentation for this 64 Sport Fury convert...It has'nt been to any major event with it's current owner and has been in Pa.{with this owner} since the early 90s...That's why I was excited to get this one out and blow the dust off to see what we're actually looking at...So far all the engine parts are checking out as 64...It was raced sometime in it's life and is'nt completely original...So far the easy stuff that I've found is a hemi distributor with a mechanical tach drive{capped and unused} on the engine and the intake is a 63...Including various fasteners that would'nt have been original...I'll get a bunch more pics and we'll see what this thing actually is...

Ok, definately not the same car then, I looked at a white 63 MW covertible not a 64. Please post a pic of the upper engine stamping pad if you can, I'd love to see the original numbers.

There's no stamping on the carb base that I can see on either one...I don't know much about the carb tags but these don't look like the usual carb tags I've seen...

And lastely {for now} a pic of the choke grommet...Current owner added the MC shield and changed out the MC but kept the original....Scott, I'll get the pad pic and whatever else you'd like to see...We're still going over the numbers and figuring out just what we've got here...
