So even though I have had years to come up with the answer to this question, the color has went from black to lime light green, to orange, purple and most every other color......

The car is blue now, and kinda like it, I kinda like purple as well but I want to be different. I am thinking House of Kolor Burple, anyone else painted a car that color? post some pics if so

I was unsure this past fall on colors also. I looked for days at colors. I actually like a Massey Ferguson Orange, but those cars are never orange.
I wanted to paint my 65 Belvedere Red, but my boy loves Blue...Thomas the Tank engine Blue more so than any
So I started looking into blue colors. I found a Blue that was actually a Chrysler color. So I went that route...
Its a pearl, Medium metallic Blue...Actual color is Intense Blue Pearl Coat with alpine white stripe..
Its resembles the Butch Leal's car and the Lady Dragon car somewhat... I also have some custom Gold leaf Plymouth lettering already too..
Just some Idea's.

Burple is a cool color IMO. The car in the backround of this picture is painted Burple, IIRC it was a white base though as is my old Duster. My old heap is purple with lots of pearl in it.

My car was supposed to be Intense Blue Pearl. Due to a body shop mistake it ended up the darker Viper GTS(royal) blue. My body man jumped through hoops to avoid painting the whole car again lol. He did the jambs, bottom of hood, bottom of trunk lid, and all of the interior panels for free. I also got him to put all the trim and bumpers back on.

I'm in the same boat, trying to pick a color.
The HOK Burple is high on the wish list.
This is a candy that is different depending on base color and number of coats. The test example above is over Gray, the car over White.
If you are really leaning toward this, I'd suggest shooting a few test panels with different bases and coats to get exactly what you want.

BTW, a few years back I saw an INTENSE dark Blue HOK paintjob. Asked the owner about it and was told it was an Orange (Red+Yellow) base with the Blue candy. Normally, mixing the three primary colors would end up muddy, but it made it very dark yet the highlights were brilliant.
Try a bunch of different bases to see the effects.

You can get Hok Burple in a Kandy (UK-13), Kandy Basecoat(KBC-13) or just in a basecoat(SG-109). Find a Hok chip book and see what the different color bases look like for under the true Kandy. Also the KBC is a basecoat that resembles a Kandy, which would be easier to spray. But then the regular basecoat would be even easier. Kandies can be hard to spray and I would recommend a professional that specializes in Kandies to spray it. I spray Kandies on motorcycles but I would be real hesistant to try it on a car. BTW that is a sweet color. Looking at it in the chip book now.

Well here is a little twist to throw in the mix...Im partially color blind. So two colors could be very different, but look identical to me. I like a darker color for the most part, so I think over a black base will suite me best.

I am doing the "factory" 340 paint scheme with the hood, cowl, tops of doors and fenders painted black, but I am going to do it gloss back and hide the line in the clear as a bit of a twist...

Its funny, I just turned 30 last month and this was my first car, I have had it 14 years. I have had so many years to think about what the perfect color would be, and the anticipation is killing me.... will it be the right color (not that I will know) will other people like it, is it the best fit for the car....and to me its the one thing that I cant redo . I can blow up 20 motors, and I can fix that, but paint.....man once its sprayed....its sprayed

Josh, I saw your Duster at the bodyshop last night. It looks killer with those wheels and tires.
I really like the blue that it is right now, even the factory B5 would look good too.
A dark purple is awesome with the black accents. Hope to see the progress soon.

Ours is HoK Burple. 4 coats over shimrin silver fine flake base. 4 coats of clear. Colour is more to the blue end of purple. Looks very blue with the sun on it and a deep blue/purple (burple) when not.
A couple of pics for ya.

Sunny day

Dull day.
