Can placing jackstands under the front subframe, just in front or behind the lower control arms, cause the unibody to flex? I usually place them under the rear axle & the front subframe, but a friend said to place them where the lower control arm meets the K-Frame.
I had an auto transport tweak my subframe & crack the spot weld on the shock tower by hooking J hooks in the subframe & had to realign my front fender. Dont want to go thru that again, so any advice on the best place so support the front end on stands is appreciated.

I would say rear housing and lower contol arms.
This will distibute the weight.
Will make it the same as sitting on the ground.

On the lower control arms where they meet the K frame? That's where I placed them last time.

I think they will be just fine at the K-frame.
The closer you get to the tire will make it as if sitting on the ground.

a pic of mine sitting on jacks 4 corners, in the rear on the frames just behind the torque boxes, in the front on the frames in front of the crossmember. have done it this way to several of my cars with no problems.

btw - had a tow truck driver do the same thing to my car once tearing slots in the frames with the hooks -

It also depends on what you are jacking it up for.

I used to use 4 stands under the frame. Had a Dart up in the air. 2 on the front frame, 2 just in front of the torque boxes. Bumped the one of the rear ones with my shoulder while moving on a creeper. It was not loaded with weight and it moved off the frame. There I was under the car with 3 stands. Needless to say I place at least 2 under the suspension since that day.

Trucks flex quite a bit and they can take 4 stands on the frame.
