Hi,
Can anyone tell me what this silver bracket is for, the one to the right of the jack pad, on the frame rail. Thanks.

If it's a 70 E Body I would say it's part of the reverse lock out.
If it's a newer E Body I would say it's an automatic column shift bracket that should't be there.

My '70 E/auto/ w/ center console came with a column shift bracket and I've seen more than just this one on a '70 automatic/console shift - it looked like a column shift bracket to me at first too - but I could see it is a manual trans and a column shift bracket is round and not 'tubular' like in pic. Does the bracket in the pic also bolt onto the trans?

No, the bracket bolts to the frame rail with one black bolt, and the bracket also has a tab on the corner thats bent 90 degrees and goes in a small hole in the frame rail to keep it from moving. The top of the bracket that you can't see to well has a slight bend toward the outside of the car with a 1 inch hole that has a raised lip around it. This bracket is right below and to the rear of the Z bar. Could this be to route the speedo cable?

The '70 Plymouth FSM on page 21-72 shows it to be the same 'torque shaft assembly' as a column shift bracket and is used to lock the column, maybe its for one of those 4 speed on column shift cars that was on a previous thread the other night.

Did the 70 E body 4 speed cars have a reverse lockout? If so, anyone have a pic of the linkage assy for the 4 speed reverse lockout they can post?

Sandy,Thank You for posting. I only have the bracket with the 1 hole in it, and the rest of the parts I will have to hunt down. Thanks.
