Ok I have installed new under dash temp gauge and was wondering if I can tie in at the bulk head and have both factory and after market temp gauges working? One more ? if I ground the factory wiring temp gauge wire shouldn't the gauge nettle on the factory gauge go past the hot side to confirm it's working. Thanks for all info.

(1) No because if you made the downstream side(s) a parallel circuit it'd change the ohms (& therefore the current which would make both gauges read inaccurate. (2) It'd I believe peg on one end (open or grounded) but I'd have a helper to pull the wire before it pegs as you watch the gauge & tell him when. Might not hurt it but it's on my list of (electrical) things to avoid.

There should be enough open spots on the bulkhead to run another wire for the new gauge. I wouldn't run both gauges on the same sender though.

Grounding it should make the needle swing all one way or the other; I'm not sure. Just don't hold it there all afternoon

If you ever find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.

Thanks guys thats the info I needed I'm going to disconnect the factory wire from factory gauge at the bulk head and feed the harness to the sending unit to the new gauge. Thanks again.

Have you considered running one extra wire out to your new gauge? It'd be easy to do and pretty inconspicuous & that'd let you have both gauges functioning which is always a nice touch.

After market gauges usually wont work with factory sender and the same with factory gauge and after market sender. They almost always use different resistances.Rocky
