I'm sure this has been discussed before but I didn't turn anything up in my searches.

Back when I had my original GTX, I used Valvoline 10W30 oil. Just wondering what is recommended for a stock 440 these days.

The current engine oils today are,for the most part all high quality products.Use whatever you feel comfortable with.

I got 25 hits with just using the words Delo and Valvoline. Other words to use for a search are Rotella, diesel, 15W40, zinc, ppm, zddp...

In terms of viscosity a lot will depend on the condition of the motor, bearing clearances, and the oil pressure you're currently experiencing. And of course your location and whether or not you fire the motor on cold mornings.

Personally, if the 10w-30 provides good pressure then I think its a great choice, if the pressure is a bit low then a step up to 15w-40 or even 20w-50 may be in order. Single weights have their place too--30w...though maybe not in Canada in the winter!

Looks like the Valvoline VR1 racing oil is a good choice. They have that in 10-30 which is what I'm running now. Still have 60-70 PSI pressure.
They get to keep their zinc as it's not for
"street" use.

Try doing a search for "Amsoil". Some of their oils are made for older cars with lots of zinc and phos. Also, the oils are group 4 PAOs, top notch.

BTW, that is one sweet GTX!

If you can afford buying a lot of oil at one time and save for future use, Lubrication Engineers oil is hard to beat performance wise.

I buy multiple products (ATF, diesel oil, diesel fuel additive, gasoline additve, etc...) to make up the minimum order.

This is what I use in my Cummins Ram and 440ci Coronet motor -
