B5TA OP super stock B Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 881 Ohio	Question I have a real good stock 360 out of a 1978 W150 truck that I bought new. Would it be drilled for pilot bearing?, if so what would be the best "manual" tranny to put behind it for AUTO use (not truck). School me please ! Kev

B5TA OP super stock B Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 881 Ohio	Ok I'll try again! Have a 360 out of a W150(1978)with an automatic transmission. My question is since it was an auto. trans would the pilot bearing hole be drilled in the end of the crank? If it is, what would I look for to put a manual transmission behind it. I have a Brand X car that may get an engine swap and I thought I may go with a manual if I could get the stuff I need. Thanks!

dogdays I Live Here D Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 16,376	Use the pilot bearing that fits in the torque converter ring and trim the excessive length off your input shaft. That way you don't have to try drilling a hole in a crank. R.

4speeds4me master Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 8,089 Sorrento, BC, Canada	I don't know the number for the bearing, but the bushing for the TC register is an SKF B287. Costs me about 3 bucks a piece the last time I got one. I'd go this route and circumcise the input too... 2 Demons...no, not my kids!

76Beeper enthusiast Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 354 Stoney Creek, Ontario, Canada	Go down to your local dealship & order 53009180 which is the needle bearing. It fits into the converter pilot hole & job done. No need to worry if the crank if finish drilled.
