My car stalls out in gear and I'm wondering if the torque converter is bad or not installed properly... the mopar book states that the when the TC is installed you'll have 3 distinct engagements...is it possible to hook the trannie up with the TC not engaged fully(2 engagements) I have no leaks and the motor runs in nuetral and park but when I put it in gear ir stalls evrything seemed to have lined up properly to the flex plate when I installed it

No it won't work. Personally I have never felt the 3 engagements but only 2 definite ones.
If it is not installed fully engaged you will damage the transmission pump.

OK ..I know I felt 2 definite engagements as well..thats why I was asking..I don't remember the third one but I know it was seated all the way in. the stock flex plate fit perfectly when I mated the trannie to the engine. the engine and trannie are in the car..can I disconnect the flex plate and try to push the TC in more?

If your converter spun freely and you had to pull it forward slightly to mate up to the flexplate it is ok.
