what kind of prep work, this is for a 440source valley cover and engine paint, any thoughts?

Its not chrome ... just prime and paint. If you're worried, muriatic acid will take the plating off - don't breath the fumes !!!

Yes - with a good degreasing and a coat of etching primer as insurance against peeling. Auto body stores, some auto parts stores and Eastwood carry the etching primer in spray bomb or liquid. Two part epoxy primer would work well also.

Do you have a way to glass bead it? Glass beading is the best prep I have found for any of these kind of surfaces. Then clean and prime.

Etching primer will work just fine, blasting would help even more

yes, i have access to a blast cabnit to glass bead it, so that then etching primer is the concensus? sounds good to me, thanks all!
