My 71 Chally has a 72 style tank, that has smaller tubing ID than the 71 original tank, therefore, when I fill up, it leaks. Can these 4 ports simply be plugged off with no ill effects?

Thanks.

The tank on my '72 was really dirty when I got it. I had a local radiator shop that I trust boil it out and seal it. I had doubts about all the emissions fittings so I plugged them and installed a vent line in the filler pipe. Works perfectly.

Cool,

Those arn't emmissions vents, there the vents that insure the tank is vented in all postions when the car is parked and being driven. It's best to get the right tank for your vapor separator. They also insure the expansion tank inside your tank can funtion correctly.

There is no expansion tank in any of the reproduction tanks.

I don't think there was an expansion tank in the late 72-74 tanks anyway. The four tubes ran to the top four corners of the tank and that was it. The vapor separator was supposed to catch any fuel that came out of the tank durring filling.

You can't run a sealed gas cap and still use that tank. It has to be vented somehow. Use a vented cap or do what was mensioned above.
