A friend is scrapping a 69 3/4 ton ford truck and took some measurements of the Dana for me...Problem is (?) he measured from the axle flange to the edge of the housing where the axle tubes are welded in instead of to the center of the pinion. Does anyone know what the width of the centersection is and if the pinion is offset on the centersection?
Thank you in advance!

This sounds like a job for DrDiff.

There is a slight offset to the passenger side, IIRC. Seems like the drivers side needs to be about 1 3/8" longer. Unless this is one of those rare Ford 5 lug D60s you're going to have to cut down the tubes and replace the flanges anyway (and I'm not sure about the 5 lug). PM or e-mail DoctorDiff- he can answer any and all questions.

Dana 60s are 17.5" wide at the center section if I remember correctly.

Yes, the casting is about 17.5" wide and the driver's side tube (and axle) is 1 3/8" longer than the passenger's side for a Mopar car application.

Thanks guys!
The numbers he gave me are 25" for the drivers side axle tube (flange to casting) and 16" for the passenger side. Are the Fords actually 9" different typically? He said it originally came out of a 3/4 ton Ford van and was swapped into the pickup at some point by his dad. ... If nothing else, It may have a good set of gears and/or a limited slip that is worth keeping.

Pickup housings have equal length tubes. Van housings are offset.
