I am putting my 69 3 speed motor back together. Can someone tell me if the contacts on the back of the transmission cover look to be set correctly? What causes the contacts to close. I can't quite figure it out. Please see picture.

Thanks,

Steve

Nacho is that the circuit that stays hot until it parks then the cam "opens" it there

Steve,
that contact is NOT set correctly.
The contact must be closed with a slight tension on the terminal.
Bend the tang slowly over the terminal and make sure it passes the terminal by 1/4 inch on the opposite side.
Then slowly bring it back over the terminal so that it rests on it with tension.

Jules was a big help to me with this info.

Also, when reassembling make sure you put the tab in the correct grove. Mine was installed incorrectly and I kept having to rebend until I learned the correct placement. If your part number is readable you may be able to get some help with the correct installation.

Thanks a bunch for the help. I think I understood your instructions correctly. Does this look right now?

No. That is not good.
Snoopy's picture shows it best.
If you want to improve on the nos configuration, take the tip where the contact is and bend
it slightly so that the full surface of the point touches the terminal.
There is a smaller chance of bad contact this way.
Thanks Snoopy.
Jules
