I have a 66 Dodge D100 with a 318 poly and need to know how to set the lash on the solid lifter set up. I've never done it before so the more detailed instructions the better. Thanks in advance!

Well sarge there are shortcuts that will allow you to set more than one cylinder at a time, but personally I use what I believe to be a more accurate method. Start at the front of the engine, either bank. Rotate the engine until the intake valve opens. Continue to rotate the engine until the intake is about half way closed and set the exhaust valve. Continue rotating the engine until the exhaust valve starts to open and set the intake. Do this for every cylinder on that side of the engine and then do the other side. Once you get the hang of it it goes pretty quickly. Don't forget to remove the spark plugs, it will be a lot easier to turn the engine over. Good luck. USAF '64-'68.

Get each lifter on the cam base circle (several methods to do this) and the 4 position method (used for mild cams)as opposed to the 8 position method on the MP sticker which IS needed for wild (over 290 dur @ .050" cams) & it might be in the archives and if a specification is for example .020 then adj it to where a .019" feeler gauge has NO drag and a .021" feeler gauge has a SLIGHT drag. this will get you within .001". Adjust them cold to this and with a non perf eng you're good and a performance eng I do that then run the eng to get it hot then stop the eng, pull the plugs & w a breaker bar turn the eng by hand & adj again while it is still hot. Me personally I dont do the 2nd hot adjusting procedure with the eng running as some do. Make sure you are using the ex specs on the ex valves and the in specs on the intake valves.
