I was planning on putting a 451 with a vintage looking weiand 3x2 intake on it in my 46 PU. Lately, I've been considering running a 318 in it. Are there any "vintage" looking intakes you can run on a 318? Anyone add "dummy" carbs to a stock 2bbl intake???

Back in 76 when I had my 48 morris van, I ran a 318 with a 2bbl on it and I had a gutted out 471 blower case mounted over it and had 2 gutted out carter 4 bbl carbs mountend on top of the fake blower and had the air cleaners on them and had a hilborn scoop on the carbs. I had about $150.00 into the whole thing. I ran a belt gaurd on it so I didn't have torun a belt on it. it looked pretty real

I also thought about running a plate under a 2 bbl carb and mount 2 end carbs to make it look like a tripower Ron.....

IMO, the best "vintage' look would be a poly-318 with either the factory 2-4 set-up or the aftermarket 3-2 manifold.

I've got a poly 318 in a parts car but it would need a rebuild. I have a 318/auto out of a 70 Challenger that runs good that I was thinking of using instead of the big block. I really didn't like to looks of the poly motor. I'll probably stick with the big block. I've already got the intake. Maybe I'll just use a mild 383 in it...

Hmmm, it would be easy to bolt some extra carbs to a plate.

2-4s on a tunnel ram, shouldn't be that hard to find.

As a matter of fact...If you go to speedwaymotors.com they have an intake adapter that bolts to a stock 4bbl intake that allows you to run a couple of holley 94's. But really you could use this on any 4bbl intake..

couldn't you just run a 340-6 manifold??? I know the ports are a different size but it seems you don't care much aboout performance so why not?

How many carbs do you want? Are you just after a "look" ?? Offy makes a 2 carb intake setup for 2 4's, AFB style carbs.... The part number is: Offenhauser 5615

I think that the issue is price a 340 6 pack setup can run close to or over $2,000. and just bolting a plate to the 2bbl to make it look like a tri power with the 2 end carbs costing just about nothing at a junkyard, and you keep the economy of the stock 2bbl Ron...

The sixpack manifold is the cheap part. By the time you get the carbs and linkage you have a lot more in it than $300!
I'd still go the tunnel ram with two small 4-barrels or 2-barrels. Also with a tunnel ram the older the better as they tended to have smaller runners.

yes the intake is $300. but the carbs are around $1,000. (see below) and the air cleaner and linkage and gas line all add it up to close to $2,000.

I love the 6 pack setups but to do something different and cheap the plates under a 2bbl can be made to look cool Ron...

that is coool but why not just use 2 small holleys? those FoMoCo carbs ar 500 cfm each. You could use 2 450 vacuum holleys and use off the sheft linkage.

Why not buy a repro fiberglass air grabber air cleaner and make an adapter to fit the 2 bbl carb. Nobody will be able to see whats under it. Bad pic and not painted, but this should give you an idea.

Ron, are you still selling those?
