I've been racing my leaf sprung cuda for years and never paid much attention to ladder bar equipped cars(they were always behind me, haha) but now I'm getting ready to install the rearend in my Henry J and its got coil springs and ladder bars. I'm assuming that since the ladder bars allow no axle rotaton, there should be little or no pinion angle. What is correct?

2 degrees negative of the driveshaft angle.

That makes sense, as I guess there will still be some movement even when solid mounted. Should I mount the engine and tranny to give 2 degrees positive at the other end?

The more inline you can mount the driveline the better ie: crank, tranny out put shaft and pinion centerline, keeping the u-joints well within their working ranges.Ideally if everything was inline but since some rearend pinion centers are lower than the crank and tranny centerline and some higher(depending on the ride height) you must make the adjustments.Even if you build the drivetrain inline the moment you change the ride height or instant center you have to re-adjust pinion angle.

That is exactly how we set them up.
