Ok. I bought an oil pan for my engine. the engine is an 88. the pan is from a 92. i also bought an oil pan gasket based on a 88. to my dismay it doesnt look right... can this oil pan be used on this engine? i was hoping maybe changing to the 92 gasket would allow me to use it....

Is it a 360 or 318? did you get a gasket for a 318 and you need one for a 360 or vice versa? 360 pans are different and will not fit a 318/340/273 and also takes a different gasket.

Remember that 92 is also a transition year to the magnum motor and I believe that the rear main demensions for the pan were combined fore the magnum what I'm not sure about is if the new pan is 318 or 360 main demensions. What I'm saying is u may have a magnum pan.

Do you have a 318 or a 360?
