I got the car out last weekend at TnT. Still learning how to get this thing down the track and the RMVB was giving me fits as I was holding the shifter on launch and immediately went to 2nd, killing the 60 time. Haven't revved it over the 7000 pill yet or hit any spray. Only had one Mustang try and it was left in my wake. Had a blast, love the car, and definately am gonna sell the motor so I can put my more street friendly 540 in. Somebody neeeds to buy that motor. I didn't have to touch it all day, it runs great, doesn't need much time between rounds to cool down.

Here is one of those 1-2 shifts at the line.

Chris, Sorry I wasnt able to make it Sunday. I wanted to bring my car along to. We will meet up soon. I would of enjoyed takin a lane beside you. You can watch my tailights as your crossin the stripe. Of course if you throw the juice to it, I would be in trouble.

When ya get that 540 in there, there will be a few more mopars around. Gregg has his daytona shootin for 5.30's and Ronnie is working on the number also. Welcome to the B1 fun.

See ya this week Alan

B1's are going with the 499 Moparal so I will be in Indy hell with the 540. That was my first pass, footbraking and I hit 2nd as soon as I was thrown back in the seat from the launch. Also missed the groove completely but the goal was make passes and keep it off the wall. Next time I hit the track I will have some diferent stuff like a pill that is over 7000 (only one I had) and will use the full converter instead of half throttle when I launch with the transbrake. I'm learning here and it has been two years since I had a car on the track.

Here is another shot of that first pass

Street car, just had the ET drags on instead of the ET streets.

Now remember I am still learning how to get this thing down the track as evidence by holding the shifter at the launch. So far 6.32 @ 111 with a 1.44 60'. Gonna launch it on the converter stall next time and put in a 8000 pill and shift just under that. Mike told me he used to shift at 8600 but I am trying not to wear out the valve springs before I sell the motor.

Those are 10.5W x 31 (I think). Next time out I'll have 13.5 ET Streets on. They are about the same size. In the end I want 10.5 slicks and a set of 275-60 DRs.

Why not keep the current B1/KB motor and sell your Indy motor? Run it on motor til you get used to it...then start turning on the systems.

I am starting to like the power this motor makes but my goal for the car is to drive it on the street and also race it. The filled KB along with the small reverse flow radiator are fine for the track but get warm when driving on the street, especially if you get slowed down like at a stop light.

I didn't build the 540 for spray but will probably keep the plate and carb off the 499 and when it is time to make changes on the 540 I will set it up for the plate. Might as well since the car has all the other stuff for juice.

If I can't sell the 499 that is OK too since it fits into the car.

Had the Demon out at Huntsville with the 13.5-30 MT ET Streets last weekend. Those tires are worthless launching on the converter with the trans brake, spins out in 1st and hit 2nd and still spinning. Put it on the scales after that run (3145# with my 240# azz in it) and it wouldn't go into reverse to get off the scale!

Got it home and reverse would work if I pushed the trans brake button. Someone must have wired the transbrake to engage with the backup lights. So I call Tranzact and talk with Joe... turns out he built the engine as well as the tranny and was heavily involved in the car back when it was racing.

Ya just gotta love the Mopar community. I just wish there was more of a scene down here in North Alabama. You guys ought to come on down to Huntsville Dragway June 14th for the Mopar club event and we could have us a nice little race.

Pretty sure all cars with trans brakes are like that.. at least all of the ones I have driven were.

Well, the TN Valley Mopar Club event came and went almost without me and the Demon. It has been in body shop jail for the last 3 months to get the rear quarters patched. I got it out Friday afternoon and wrenched on the car until 3:00 Sat when I drove it over to the track. Also changed the vacuum pump and plumbing, different radiator fan, relocated the trans cooler - all to try to make driving it on the back roads better cooling wise. Missed most everybody but did see a really pretty Challenger (Cuda?) that rund 6.40s. Woulda been nice to line up with him for the photo. Have 315/60 DRs on it now and they look a lot better than the Street ETs and hopefully hook better.

Maybe next year...
