I ran the fender tag codes through an online decoder and one of the codes came up unknown. I was wondering if anybody could tell me what it means?

In the picture it is the first row, second column "Y84"

Thanks.

I was afraid you were going to ask that.....

Some codes around it are gasoline related, anything from 0 to full. So, if I had to guess I would say your car left the factory with enough gas in it to get it onto the transport & off at the dealership.

Yeah I was looking at a tag the other day that had 'Y86' on it and could not figure that one out.. after seeing this thread I assume it means about the same?

It was directed at you.

Some codes have different meanings for different model years.

Y86 for '71 is Contracted New Car Service / Dealer Pre-service

(y84 on a 72 Swinger) I take it you mean a precise EXCESS of fuel - ABOVE what's needed to reach the dealership lot? Y-codes seem promotional, so along those lines I presume...
