Brian, the original Idea for squattie was to make it a little pumper firetruck
That plan doesn't have anything to do with that brush fire a few years ago that reached your parts cars does it?
Just seeing if my memory is still working at my older age.
no I had planned the firetruck Idea long befor those fires. but this last fire Squattie was the only car that we took with us when we left(closest to being done). the picture below is where i got the idea for a firetruck. Ron...

Anyone know what those wheels are? I am thinking those are pretty sweet looking, but might look better with a two tone paint, spokes the antique tan color, centers body color. Are they original era wheels or modern billets from vintage wheels?
are you talking about the wheels on the firetruck, I think those are made by Crager and they don't make them anymore, they were a chrome wheel and not billet ones. Ron...

If I remember right the rim part and the center were chrome plated steel and the "cover" was chromed plastic to cover the lugs and I remember they have 2 bolt patterns, I see them once in awhile at the swapmeets but most of them didn't look so good(rust, missing caps or scraped up) Ron....

Sounds like the truck is coming along nicely. Will any of the fire equipment be funtional?
it is coming along pretty good, I got it running again last weekend, and mounted the rear lites and fenders for their final fit and the gas tank is in for the final time..
while I have some fire truck equipment stuff like hose nossels, gauges and a few fire extinguisers. I am going to hold off on putting that stuff on as I might have a buyer for it that has a plumbing business. so it will just be a utility truck for now and we will see what happens
and none of the fire truck stuff is funtional except the fire extinguisers Ron...

Thanks guys, but squattie has been around for over 10 years and it feels like it will never get done, I try to get at least a little done on it every day now, I cant wait till its done so I can get the racetruck back in the garage and that will be my main focus and the 42 COE car hauler will get worked on in the side yard, cant wait then the 47 panal truck gets mounted on the 93 dakota chassis as the next for sale car. I am going to try to get back to 1 for sale 2 to keep,1 for sale 2 to keep. and hopefully in about 3 years I will have a nice collection of toys Ron....

with MATS and other things going on around here I still dont have the rear fenders and bed painted but 1 rear fender IS fully mounted and I hope to get the other one finished up today and then I figure I have about 1-2 days of body work to have them ready for paint so maybe by this weekend they will be done . then I need to get the windows made and installed, get it registered and then take for some shake down runs Ron....

took a lot longer than I planed BUT:
today I finished up the paint on the bed and rear fenders for my Squattie truck. so all the paint is now on the truck, all that needs paint is the glove box door(I'll paint that later) so tomorrow I will finish up behind the cab and put the bed on for the last time and I picked up the glue and trim for the windshield this week so the windshield should be in this weekend too. with a little luck I should have it on the road sometime next week Ron....
OK, so by tomorrow the whole thing is back together!!!!!
Its absolutly beautiful ron0 great job.

Thise fenders look nice. Are they fiberglass?
Yes, the rear fenders are fiberglass model "A" fenders.
I finished inside the bed, back of the cab and the front of the bed with gravitex this morning
got a little more done tonight after it cooled down some. I painted the bed cover framework with POR15 and test fitted the windshield Ron....

ron, how heavy is that bed cover & what struts did you use ? i'm going to weld the back doors into a one pc unit on my humpback and hinge it like a minivan.
the bed cover is not real heavy, its made from 1/2x 1 1/2 thin wall tubing and 1" angle iron with 1/4 plywood, foam and vinal, I would guess its around 50 lbs the gas shocks I had laying around but I think they are from a rear hatch omni or horizion or charger (again ) but they work great Ron...

well things were set back by a day, my wife went into DMV and they gave her more paper work to fill out and get signed, its the luck of the draw when you go in there, so today I went to the dmv near us and got a very nice lady and I now have my sticker of operation so if I can get the bed and fenders on it I will make it to cruisin grand tomorrow. I need to mount the bed and bolt on the fenders and put on the tail lights and the back window for the sticker, add some more gas and make its maiden voyage Ron...

got the back window in and got the bed on and boled down for the last time, got the overflow tank on and hooked up. but I still need to finish bolting up the front fenders.(had to unbolt then to get the running boards on)install and bolt up the rear fenders and hook up the tail lights, I need to put on a few more lug nuts. and I need to get and install some mirrors. oh and i need to get some gas for it and put in new sparkplugs, I am not sure it will make it to grand tomorrow Ron....

well thanks Eric I think I might be a few hours away from having it the way I would like to have it ready. the big problem I have is it really takes 2 people to bolt on the rear fenders and I dont think I can get anyone here till later in the day. I plan to keep working on it and if someone shows up I will put them to work holding the wrench for the fender bolts I cant wait till its done so I can get back on "ALL" the other projects. Ron...

looks good ron ! what are the speedo & gages from in squatty ? are they original ? any idea what justins car weighs ? i bet it's a hoot to drive !
the gauges in squattie are from a mid 60's dodge van or PU. I added the newer 3 gauges because I wanted a volt gauge instead of a amp gauge and the stock temp gauge only has a operating range and the new gauge has numbers.
Squattie weighs 3040 and Justins truck is 2300lbs it weighs more than I thought it would
and yes it is a blast to drive Ron..
