I'm in the process of starting another project, this one is pretty rough, but well worth the effort and much more interesting than my 383 2bbl Challenger I just sold (after fully restoring it). The wife can't believe I sold such a nice car and turn right around and buy a piece of Junk
Anyway, I know I have a a special car... but have not been able to find the production figures for special option packages such as track pack, elasometric bumpers, shaker hood, etc...
Is any of this information available for those willing to do the homework or is Galen the only one with this information (does he have it) ?
My main question is with the elastometric bumper - shaker - track pack, etc... is this car more rare than I initially thought or did most of the
6-pack 4-speed cars receive these options ?
Thought i was just buying a 6-pack 4-speed car.
Here are my codes:
JS23 V0B 199XXX D21 4-SPEED A833 E87 440 3-2BBL 390 HP 0228XX ORDER NUM B20 PROD DATE 11/20/69 000 FULL DOOR PANEL H6E4 RED INTERIOR FE5 PAINT BRIGHT RED C55 BUCKET SEATS C16 WOOD GRAIN CONSOLE A62 RALLEY CLUSTER 150 SPEEDO A34 SUPER TRACK PACK 4.10 DISC BRAKES HEMI SUSP A21 ELASTOMETRIC BUMPER - FRONT ONLY RACE MIRROR FE5 RED PAINT N85 TACHOMETER N42 BRIGHT EXHAUST TIPS N41 DUAL EXHAUST SYSTEM M21 DRIP RAIL MOULDINGS J81 REAR SPOILER - WING TYPE G11 TINTED GLASS - ALL WINDOWS 26 26" RADIATOR Y05 BUILT TO SPECS - USA ORDER V8W TRANSVERSE TAPE STRIPES - WHITE R11 AM RADIO - MUSIC MASTER N96 CARBURETOR FRESH AIR - SHAKER HOOD EN2
Any feedback is appreciated. Mike

He removed it years ago for safe keeping and is going off of his memory...What you say makes sense and now I'm sure what he said is not correct. The car is a real V-Code Chalenger with a 20 year old title in his name and has all the right (appears to be original and untouched ) parts such as Hemi K-Frame, Sway Bar, Radiator Support, Cowl, Ate up Factory Interior, etc... Too much rust and original patina to be a restore. I bought it for what it is (without a fender tag) and I'm going to put it back on the road with or without a fender tag.

Did you buy the car from Craigslist? If so, were the last digits of the seller's phone number ?

Hopefully he just wrote a FEW things down wrong.
I was thinking there are MORE issues with the fender tag than just the A21

I'm pretty sure you could not get a November built Challenger with a shaker (?) . I think the shaker was available in August , then unavailable until sometime around June(?)just before end of production year. That's why their are so few real '70 Challenger N96 cars. Why would N-41 Dual Exhaust System be on the options tag? Shouldn't they have been standard equipment on 440 6-packs?
Not if it was a N97 California car.

The factory invoice for the Yellow Jacket does not show rubber bumpers.
Well that doesn't mean they were not on or with the car as it was sent off to the customizers?.......You have a "copy" of that?

It was built as a regular, plain old Hemi convertible R/T (if there is such a thing) & it was shipped that way to it's first destination. It did not go very far.
Yes, I do have a copy.
A "BLACK"......plain old Hemi vert

You're the second person who has asked if I bought it from a guy named Scott, and the answer is (NO), I bought it from a guy named Robert (Last name starts with S) and his name is on the (20 year old title) Where is this Scott guy from ? The car and title came form Oklahoma. I don't know anyone in the Mopar hobby named Scott (or anyone named Scott for that matter).
Is he someone to stay away from ? Que Pasa ?
------ I also bought a 67 Coronet R/T (440) from the ame guy (also 3 weeks ago), and he did give me the fender tag and Broadcast sheet for the car.
I just dropped a (motor home) 440/727 into it and working on the brakes this weekend. It should be running in a few.
BTW, after close inspection of the Challenger now in my possession, it does not have plastic bumpers, it does not have a hole in the firewall for a shaker hood, and it does not look like it ever had a wing installed on the deck lid... I can tell that it is a factory 4-speed, factory console, has a 26" rad opening, Has skid plate on k-frame, Has a Dana 60 axle (cant read number on botton yet...need to get it up on my lift and clean it) and count the ratio. Paint under dash, on the inner firewall, and inside the rear quarters is black...not red.
But until the owner finds the tag, there's not much I can do.
Thanks Mike

It was purchased, and picked up just outside of Yuba, Oklahoma less than 20 miles from my house.
I know it has been there for a very long time, because I've seen it on the way to one of my favorite arrowhead hunting places since the late 80's when I came back from Korea (Army).
What's up with all the mystery and secrecy?
If you know something about my car, then I would be delighted if you would fill me in.
I appreciate Q&A conversation as much as the next guy, but if you know something about it that I do not, then I see no reason why you would keep that information to yourself....
I'm tired, please contribute.

V8W? Never seen that on an R/T. Also... Could one get G11 on a non-AC car? I suppose: I'm sure this type of car would have come w/power brakes?

Yes, it's recommended on AC cars, and optional on the others, but would not show up on the fender tag in 1970.

I am curious also.... I own a car that was once owned by a Scott L. out of Oklahoma that kind of brokers in old Mopars from what I understand. It sounds like the guy you are talking about.... Is there something I should know?
I don't know... My car was not owned by anyone named Scott, but several people asked since it was an oklahoma car at one time. I've never heard of (Scott) until recently on this board. Sounds like a guy to stay away from. Maybe someone can chime in here
The old man I bought my last (2 cars) from is as good as gold and does not wheel and deal in cars, he' a farmer and pretty good mechanic. My only complaint is that he (promised) me he had the fender tag...and so far (3 weeks later) he hasn't found it - but that's ok, I'm happy with my purchase without it...if it turns up, then it turns up. The other car he sold me (67 Coronet R/T) did come with the fender tag and the broadcast sheet was under tht back seat.... so maybe he will remember where he put it.
