Dodgeballs OP mopar D Joined: Jun 2004 Posts: 469 Hawaii	The part where the shifter linkage goes snapped off on my 18 spline 833. To pull it out, do I need to remove the reverse idler shaft? If I do, is there a trick to doing it without the tool shown in the service manual? thanks

buildanother I Live Here B Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 11,543 chicagoland,usa	I made one out of a coupler nut and threaded rod or something a few years ago. It has to be pushed out from inside case IIRC.

Just make one out of 1/2-13 bolt & coupler nut The tool in the FSM is the same tool that is used for pulling the shift shaft seal on a 904/727 , it's a pain to use though as it slides all over the place

S Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 8,853 Ontario, Canada	I used a piece of round rod (about 5/8" dia.) about a foot long and bent a 90 in it at a point where it will fit in the case and rest against the front edge with one end touching the shaft. Now its a lever. Lightly hammer the end and it will push out the shaft.
